That's because they are 2 different lines, you're correct. The one with the arrow is located in the saddle between Tiedemann and Combatant, whereas Researcher's pic is of the actual Combatant Couloir from the 50 classics

Let's try this. I'm uploading the actual picture itself

So much awesomeness in this thread.
Grand daddy seems to be the iconic one on bow peak but I've always considered the "funnel of death couloir" aesthetic perfection. Guessing it's pretty much 3000' to the fan. Always has a freight train of a cornice across the top of the funnel. Attachment 281615

I've always had a boner for the Chouinard in GTNP.

Last descent of Twisting Couloir has been done....a big portion of Joffre fell off last night. Attachment 282390

That’ll fill in with a couple cm
Lea - how does one get to Brunswick Cl in winter? I've done it a few times in the summer and I can image that last ridge is passable in winter - other than perhaps roped and walking on the cornice?

July 1st photo of a line off Mount Monolith in Tombstone Territorial park, Yukon. Certainly not the best and not all that long, but very aesthetic and located in a pretty unique place. I've seen a few reports of people skiing in there, so it's probably been skied.
We need more stoke in the world, and this thread has been forgotten for a little too long...
So heres a Nevada gem

^^^ spicy!
Here's one of my favorites. Not really a couloir, more of a terrain feature of this particular part of the mountain:

Sweet distraction
Thx!

Moar plzzz
I'm crrrrushing the Corona with majestic couloirs.

Here is a little gem. Not too much of a squeeze but a beautiful line nonetheless.
Yeah super gully! Lost rivers are incredible..Attachment 323019
Sweet pics
If we’re talking best in NA.. Really though, how can anything top San Joaquin

Probably not the "best", but certainly a classic - McGown in the Sawtooth Range. (I searched the thread and I don't think it's been posted yet).

I'd probably put the SJ over the Snake, as cool as the summit rap is. I'd put the Trilogy variation over the SJ, though. My personal favorite cooler in the San Juans was posted a couple pages back. Dead Squirrel is such a long perfect hallway. It's not even that gnar, it's just that couloirs rarely stay that perfect for close to 3K, especially in CO. Just my $.02, and we have nothing better to do these days than argue about fun couloirs :)
Low tide in the western Sierra from mid March but one I will hopefully be back for.

ha! I was gonna say that the snake isn't even the best couloir on sneffels, but its the only one i've skied so what do i know
The San Juans are definitely a rad range when they've got the snowz. lots of beauts
Sopris Laundry Chutes been mentioned?
Attachment 323155
I'm sure not the raddest in NA, but pretty fun!
I have one or 2 that I've found.
I hesitate to post them because they haven't been skied yet.
But for the right person, I would share.
Hankey, that Split? Looks tasty. 213 - where's that - gotta be Eastern Sierra somewhere.
Here's a nice one (but maybe not best in NA) above Big Pine:
Attachment 323203
Gotta put Moran/Skillet up at the top, Red Slate Mountain, and Mendenhall Couloir.
Right you are, Meterman! And yours, If I remember right, is it the N. face of Birch?
This thread is an uplifting and positive distraction vs. some other threads and facebook right now. Thanks to all for keeping threads like this going :) It gives me a place to go while I'm not skiing and reminds me what I love about the mountains :)
