Sounds like she will trade for something with an Auto.

I DO want an RX-8 but that's a crack pipe price for that year from what I've been seeing. Good call on the RX tho. Been on the lookout.

Maybe the white caravan in the background, might be an early 90's AWD.
True. True. That's why I've been on the hunt for soooooo long. Haha.

The worst of both worlds?

Is that a Mitsubishi Galant?
Tres gallant!
How much pain am I asking for with this one? Haha. Either it's a blown trans OR it's one of the multitude of possible simpler fixes known with the no reverse problems with this S-Type.
Worth a roll of the dice at this price?

Nice Taurus
Saw this in the way back from a soccer match... although it didn't appear to be for sale:https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...141d9898ba.jpg
What's a 2CV6? I know the 2CV but the 6 I don't. I wonder if that means it does 0-60 in under a minute when it's not going downhill? Probably not. Nice find.
^ Thanx.
Deux cheveaux
Piece of shit car. But still cool.
It’s the French yugo.
You're right! Looked into them a bit more and evidently share the same platform as the Thunderbird and Lincoln LS. As far as Jags go, apparently really reliable and yeah. Most Ford parts. That said, my research is also proving that those S-Types are a dime a dozen and even at $2K+, the guys asking too much considering the possibly busted trans.
Also pretty cheap for the age is the XF. I wonder how much mechanically "quirkier" those are than the boring S-Type. Even the sexy AF XK8 coupes are going fairly cheap. I wonder why these haven't been on my radar more. Maybe I'm just skared of impending repairs and lowish mpg. Haha.

XF switched to the direct injection Jaguar 5.0l. Quite a bit more complex engine. I believe they kept the same(ish) ZF 6speed auto. Had some interior electronics quirks and issues. Biggest one I remember was the dial shift in the center console. Overall decent reliability but I wasn’t around for them to start racking up miles. They were quite a leap from the S-Type.
I'm convinced the answer to this thread is any hand-me-down from gravitylover.
Damn. Mazderati's on a roll today! Laughing my ass off over here.

FKNA haha. Could be :)
I like the ZF6HP26 a lot and in the bigger picture it's a pretty solid, reliable tranny. Maintenance really isn't anything over the top either. The reality to 15 or so year old Jag V8s is the 4.4 is pretty bomber and doesn't have many notable problems, the 4.2 SC (like mine) is a bit more quirky but if the wear items are replaced before they fail it's a really good lump. My problem is it wasn't before I got it and I tend to run things on a shoestring budget that should be run on champagne and caviar budgets.
Other than the Type R, the S-Type never did it for me.

It got a little better after they re-designed the interior.

I've always had a soft spot for the X-Type, especially the estate.

I've ridden in a couple of X Type sedans that were really nice but all 4 wagons I've test driven rode like shit. The suspensions were shot, the steering was fkd up and the interiors were more worn than they should have been at the mileage the cars had on them. It's like the people that leased them had nice cars but pretty soon after those leases ended things just wore out and the cars felt like old Camaros with the Iron Duke 4.
The X Type was a Mondeo, wasn't it?
Ha!
Ooh! Daddy likey! (until it breaks. As is Saab tradition)

I'm tryin guys, but can't quite convince the wife after her parents own love/hate relationship with Saabs. Loved em and hated them for all the same reasons we know of. Still. A 9-5 Aero with a stick and 443 hp sounds like SSOOOOOO much fun.

More realistically, my wife actually wants me to go chase down this Volvo C30 R-Design 6MT. Looks sweet but need to talk to owner for more details before figuring out logistics. Aside from the rebuilt title which he seems to be up front about, you guys see any other red flags?

Haha. For real. Could be how I finally find a car I want at a fair price tho.
Talked to the guy for a long time today. Sent me more pics and talked to me about its whole history and emailed me Carfax report. Looks to be in pretty darn good shape. Have a buddy in the region who's gonna test drive it for me and Imma buy a one way plane ticket if this thing checks out.

The C30 is the only fwd car I'd buy (again). I miss that car, it was one of the most pleasant road trip vehicles I've ever owned, it was easy to drive and the easiest ever to park with the rear window just a few inches from the edge of the bumper, the seats are awesome and when it got broadsided on the driver's door I just crawled out the other side. Buy it.
What happens to this thread if you buy it? I'd assumed it was going to be a "Waiting for Godot" type thing.
