Dood, you gots to know it's impossible to get all the way up there without sherpas and that takes some advance planning. Making some calls now - will report in over the weekend if I survive the journey.

A few flurries flying around this afternoon. A step in the right direction...
Drove through my first snow squall in S NH, in typical NE fashion it started as rain, turned to sleet, sneet, then snow :) Flurrying in N Conway.
Ben is good people, known him for many years. Glad to see him getting his props.

Hey, where did you end up finding a place? Too bad the place at SB didn't work out...he just rented it this week I think.
I could be convinced to share a Klownington 2fer if anyone was interested. How about Sunday? Shoot me a PM.
Well that settles it. Heading to Loon on Sunday. If anyone is looking to make some turns shoot me a pm.
Our snowmakers and groomers put forth a Herculean effort to deliver top-to-bottom coverage on five trails today, which is an almost unheard-of feat so early in the season. In fact, I’ve been going through our records, and today is the earliest we’ve opened top-to-bottom. Ever.
We don’t plan to stop snowmaking any time soon. We’ve been running the guns all day on the upper mountain, building up a base on Upper Flying Fox, Sunset, Haulback, Upper Flume, and Lower Walking Boss. We plan to blast 325 guns across the mountain tonight, including Upper Picked Rock, Bear Claw Extension, and Lower Picked Rock.
If you’re lucky enough to make it up here tomorrow, expect typical early-season conditions with ongoing snowmaking, variable conditions, and terrain suitable for advanced and intermediate skiers and riders only. Get here for first chair and you’ll have five trails, two miles, and 37 acres of terrain to test your early-season legs. Not too shabby for three weeks before Thanksgiving.
Lifts
Both the Gondola and the East Basin Double will run all weekend, with downloading available via the Gondola if you want to stick to the upper mountain.
Tickets
Early season ticket pricing is in effect all weekend: $29 for all ages!
^^^^^^believe it when I see it. not the forecast;)

8 degrees and blowin 60-70 with windchill of -21. 2.2 of new with more expected.
Drier air associated with a weak ridge of high pressure will allow for some brief clearing on and above the summits today. As the high crests in, winds will gradually decrease and temperatures will start a gradual rebound. An incoming low from the Great Lakes will swing a warm front northeast later today, spreading clouds, summit fog, and precipitation in for the overnight hours. Although temperatures are expected to warm overnight, it should remain cold enough for snow during the onset of the frontal passage. Sunday is expected to see temperatures continue to moderate ahead of the frontal passage. Precipitation should remain as snow on the higher peaks, but lower elevations will likely see a mix of freezing precipitation types, or rain showers, before things start winding down tomorrow afternoon. New snowfall overnight will be a one to three inches with an additional trace to two inches for Sunday.
mmmmmm, snow n blow

Loon was better than I expected yesterday. The crowds didn't show up and their are a few spots that are skinny and got bumped up pretty good. But overall the snow was nicer than the ice sheet I was expecting. People in high spirits. As neufox said they are cranking the guns whenever they can. By next weekend if they have north peak open and flying fox it will be hard to pass up for mid november
Does anyone have a roof box for skis they're looking to get rid of? PM me.
Still waiting on this baby over here... got a pass to Smuggs for the first time since college Thurs, very stoked to make every Tuesday - Thursday pow opportunity this season (and weekends when my mother in law is visiting)! My days on the hill are going to be limited this year, but I hope to get at least 20 - 30 high quality days in..

Taking her sweet time I see VTCS!
Weekday country club membership pays and then some.
ESAW was fantastic today. Learned a lot from some of the best in the industry and it was done in a manner that was entertaining and relatively easy to digest. There are some really exciting developments in the industry right now. I want to do more of a write up but the post class booze is impeding my brain. For anyone who skis in avy terrain, the conference next year should be a must attend.
Also, Jeff Lane will be holding a monthly free avalanche training class upstairs at IME in N. Conway. First one is 12/14/13 and it is going to be every second saturday of the month for the winter. The first class will be on making early season avy evaluations.
For sure FD, brought the powsurfers/approach skis to the OG session at Talent last night and had a crowd around me, building a powsurf army. Watch out folks better guard your skin tracks, MMmwahahah
Actually a just few people are interested in the bindingless revolution here in VT and the 4 of us are all shredding together now.. I would love to share the stoke this winter with anyone who wants a try, hit me up via PM. Got a Von Trapp mandatory homework assignment coming up this season and will be doing some events with the Catamount trail association, maybe even tagging along at Worthy demos.

Out on the backyard trails yesterday. 36` and a bit of sun made for a great ride. lots of time spent clearing deadfall, looks like no one has been out lately, need the 346XP to get two big ones.
Over the rocks and through the forest, stealthy gray camo.

Would someone explain to me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Driving back from loon and I see this on the NH forecast discussion. Is this true? Jay is suddenly calling for 4-8" overnight!?
VETERANS DAY BEGINS WITH WEAK RIDGING IN PLACE. SKIES WILL BECOME MOSTLY CLOUDY ONCE AGAIN ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION AS THE NEXT JET STREAK AND VORTICITY MAXIMUM CROSS THE NORTHEAST. THIS WILL DRIVE A COLD FRONT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT. AHEAD OF THE FRONT...WARM AIR ADVECTION AND COMPRESSIONAL WARMING WILL HELP TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID TO UPPER 40S ACROSS SOUTHERN NH AND SW MAINE. FARTHER NORTH...DAYTIME DIURNAL RANGES WILL ONLY BE 5-10 DEGREES. BETWEEN SNOW SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT AND UPSLOPE ENHANCEMENT...NORTHERN AREAS SHOULD SEE AROUND 1-3 FT OF SNOW ACCUMULATION TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.
Wait, what?!
It's a mistake right?

I believe the report for Jay.. NOAA usually gets it damn close with their predictions, and at higher elevations I've found that they actually tend to underestimate.
They are also saying:
3-5" for Stowe/da notch
3-7" for Smuggs and beyond
and for both an additional 1-3" on Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if the snow total by Tuesday night hits a foot for some of the higher elevation areas.
Not sure where that 1-3' prediction is coming from though?!
Went to see Cardigan in her new white dress...she was not ready to party. Nice hiking though. We saw bear tracks.
