what the neocons need to understand is that it IS American to be open to different points of view. enough of this "Liberals are commies" or "anti-Americans" - the only thing the Right knows how to do is to smear people and drive wedges among the population in an attempt polarize the country. Nobody on either side wants our country attacked by terrorists so get over it.

first off, there are places we can still agree. As for taxes, a flat percentage tax on income across the board would make sense to me. But we need to figure out how to address the growing divide between the top 5% and the rest of the country. Inflation & weakening dollar are cripling us. Bush has sold almost all our debt to China - we are losing the strong middle class. It's increasingly more difficult for families to make a living. I agree- taxes need to be addressed but the big picture should also be understood.

immigration- I see two sides to this story. First, English should be the official language and people should be expected to learn it. But we should also teach second languages to all students- as it is important to succeed in a world economy with that skill set. On the other side of immigration, there are many industries that rely on hard working immigrants (many hotels, restaurants). It is very difficult to find people who would be willing to take on certain jobs. Without an eased immigration policy, tourism in particular would be hurt- and from a hospitality perspective - service impacted. It's a very difficult topic to please so the only way to accomplish a 'policy' would be cooperation (something the Right has been unwilling to do since 2000).

But moving on to your "Iraq" points -
1. Democrats were not given the full intelligence reports. The White House and Congressional Republicans held back information in addition to holding secret committee meetings. There is strong evidence now that Cheney was cherry picking to "cook the intel" from the CIA. I don't care if you don't believe me- this information is readily out there. Try Google. Why is it that Cheney's top secret Energy meeting is confidential? The war is all about oil - which is why Bush/Cheney will start to remove troops as soon as the oil-sharing revenues bill passes the Iraqi Congress when they return the end of summer (Hence Cheney's recent visit to Iraq). It's about controlling the oil and keeping it off the market, not producing.

2. Iraq creating new breed of jihadists, says CIA. There were no terrorists there before, but there are now...nice training ground for urban assaults with our troops printed as bright targets. they can polish their skills before coming to the US.

3. We've been lucky there have not been any more attacks, Iraq has caused more problems than it will be worth in the long run. Killing 600,000 innocent Iraqi's will only cause future hatred and planned attacks.

4. Myth: Media is not "liberal" as all major networks are owned by corporations: News Corp, General Electric, Disney, Viacom, Time-Warner, Clear Channel and AT&T. These are companies with conservative corp and extensively donate to the Republican party. Saying the media is "liberal" is just an excuse for not wanting to hear the truth as you'd rather hear news as opinion, not fact.

On to Osama Bin Forgotten ... as Bush has been quoted "I don't know where he is, I really don't spend all that much time on it" How do you feel about that? I for one am pissed off. My dad lost friends in the WTC and to have Bush make jokes about it pisses me off.

Bush Family & Saudi Arabia - why were the Saudi's given the ONLY air traffic clearance right after 9/11? Why Iraq? Saddam was evil, but it was the Saudi's who attacked us on 9/11. Do you ever ask yourself why we are letting Afghanistan slipping away? Because our military is overextended in Iraq fighting a corporate oil war under the guise of "terrorism"

Here's a fact - 7000 people rallied against a tax hike at the MN capital. The local media apparently didn't think it was worth reporting, but thought a few hundred people protest against the Iraq war was worth it. Just the tip of the iceberg on that.
