Rossignol Black Ops?

so I sold this pair earlier in the season

but have since evolved my stance to be even more upright, so thought I should give the BO118 another try - still mounted at rec -2, so 4.5 from center.

to be perfectly honest the main driver to try them again is the new Sender Free 110 - I am really looking forward to getting a pair. I want to build a two ski quiver of two really similar skis from the same brand with little to no adjustment to skiing style between them - and the bo118+sf110 is one of the options I am considering right now (the new koala103 + current koala 118 being the other).

While the airtip-gate might make some mags less interested, I am not one of them - they look super dialed to me. Though, I wish they had a proper blackops graphic instead of the blander color explosion they will have for 23/24, that is - before Rossi whips of the graphics they have already had made when the current bo118 graphic was made. Can't wait! No ON3P level graphic imho, but still awesome.

I still need to detune my current pair a bit more. Still, they skied wonderfully in slush, corn and soft groomers today. So much fun.

The skis I went with when I sold my first pair - koala119 and PR-OTO - have fallen a bit out favor for me. The former is just too stiff (hard to shut down in mach schell in dense snow and way too violent pop if seriously loaded up) while the latter is slightly too big for me. Both are fantastic skis, but I am too light to get the best out of them and do not have enough umph in my legses.

Sounds like a cool plan kk. Interested to hear how you get on with both next season. You mentioned ON3P and I’ve seen you on that thread before. Did you consider J102/J110/J118 (pick two)?

I would love to try all three, but sadly - with the current exchange rate and the sorry state of my finances I simply cannot afford to order them currently / any time soon. I probably paid about half for the BO118s pictured above than I would've had I ordered some jeff118s, and that is not due to the jeffs being overly expensive - just transactions costs and a terrible exchange rate. hm, I've been told there is a Sender Free 102 in the works. Does anybody have any info on it? Early release 24/25 ski or just wishful thinking?

How serious is the 192 Black Ops 98? I've seen some mixed reviews on it's stability, with some saying the 192 is fairly beastly and others saying it's very easy to ski.

I'm looking for a replacement for my 191 M4 Mantras, but something that's much better in the park. Looking for something that blends attributes of my M4 Mantras and a Moment Wildcat 101. My last ski like this was a 187 Menace 98, and that ski wasn't as stable as I wanted but it was very fun in moguls/park.

Dub post. Instead of being smart and just demoing the black ops 118, I've been having an internal struggle debate about this ski for years on how it compares to Bibby/Wildcat.

I actually had a pair of BO118 4 years ago, but never mounted and resold like an idiot. Ever since it's been an overthinking temple within my brain because I need another ski like these or Bibbys in my currently one dimensional quiver.

I thought I was settled on the BO118, but this post makes me think Wildcat would be better for me. I never saw this post from 2.5 years ago.

My post above though, I believe the Black Ops 98 makes more sense than the Wildcat 101 for me.

Maybe split the difference and try the Sender Free 110?

Separate advice/question: what, specifically, do you want to do in the park? I ask because some park skis are better for big jumps (I think the BO98 is in this category), some are super light and easy to spin, others are better for butters, etc. You may also want to size down to make everything easier in the park.

I've been researching the BO118 and BO98 a ton the past couple days, but I think I've come full circle back to Wildcats and Wildcat 101s. In terms of the park, I know 188 Pb&Js used to work fine and I doubt 2cm is going to be a huge difference.

BO118’s are an interesting ski. It’s overall weight and build that are great at absorbing everything. It’s decently loose (not BG loose) in the tail and better than average on groomers for a ski that wide.

I didn’t like mine on the line (too progressive for my tastes, so I sold them and scored a cheap pair of the new ones I’ll mount at -2/-3. Hoping that does the trick.

I’d say the BO98 doesn’t really fit in with the 118. It just feels like a wider park ski, I wasn’t remotely impressed when I tried them years ago.

The pink ““Super” Blackops is just a Blackops 98 with a different top sheet. One for sale on here right now in 192cm

Is this now the SF110 thread?

Mounting the 191cm SF110 on the factory rec line. Not a "jib" kid, I like to land my rotations facing forward/down the fall line. Love my 192cm mfree 108 at +1.5 from factory rec as a DD. Me: 6ft, 185lbs nkd, raced fis, done a couple qualis, like to drive my skis but working on a bit more finesse/freestyle atm. Will report back on the rec line, using as a daily driver at whistler blackcomb once it snows a lot more.

SF118 is basically the BO118 with a new graphic. Unsure if they give it the SF110 layup too. I am a bit surprised that they do not add a 192 at some point.

The two skis next to the SF110 are the new Sender Souls. I have been told that they are more flat tail affairs meant for the masses to noodle around on in true S7 style, which makes a sense from a business perspective - even if it is not what I am wanting them to be. Alas.

I have a bunch of days on my SF110s at this point. I will post a more in depth review at later on, but suffice it to say - they are really, really good skis. I really like their looseness mounted at rec, while they become much more of a drivable semi-charger mounted at -2 (182 Dynastar M-Pro 108s were easier to ski in wind battered variable that the -2 pair imho).

SF110s might just be the best 110 type daily driver ski I have yet to ski for how I like to ski - I find them fun on groomers, they are poppy, have a great balance in the air, float well at either mount point, they have support when you need them to yet are easy to ski most of the time and the graphic actually looks kinda nice in person - if a bit boring. I might be leaning towards the rec mount being the more versatile (so much so that I have started to wonder how a BO118 mounted at rec would ski), though the -2 mount is pretty nice as well. The only negative thus far is that the top sheets chip pretty spectacularly if you hit them the "right" way, but there is always glue eh. I will happily recommend them to just about any skier that gets on well with progressively mounted skis - Rossi will sell a shit ton of these over the next few years (or deserve to any way - they are awesome skis).

I am really curious how they would compare to custom ON3P Jeffs with titanal.

For Kid-Kapow and any owners of the Ssnder Free 110 or BO 118 as they have similar top sheet types-Be sure to round the tips/tails edges above the widest points(above effective edge) with a file and stones so that it won’t effect grip but will help with topsheet damage.
I also take a sanding block on a 45 degree angle lightly to the topsheet to again help with top sheet chipping.

My first set of Blackops 118 were VERY rough on that topsheet edge tip/tail and the edges still sharp on the very tip/tail. Would have been very prone to chipping.
