I never lay clubs off the green. I either return to my bag or lay them on the pulled flag stick. Every time.

damn, Obama played six rounds on vacation in the Vineyard, taking 27.5 hours!?!?! Over 4.5 hour rounds? With nobody in front and clearly nobody behind pushing them? :nonono2: link
IDK. You need to know you opponent I guess. This one friend does not do so well when you’re a nicehole. I think he becomes a little complacent. But, if you start provoking him by talking shit he’ll kick your ass.
Then again...it's just fucking golf so I don't care too much. You won't be seeing me anytime soon on the pga.
Just had a wonderful treat. New GF treated me to a birthday week in Alabama. Doesn't sound great, but Birmingham was really quite wonderful. Did some kayaking, camping, foodie-ing, and finished it up with a round of golf at Robert Trent Jones' Oxmoor Valley Ridge course, which reminded me quite a bit of Thousand Oaks golf course in Michigan... lots of rolling hills, very mature trees, elevation changes all over, big greens, etc.
I haven't played since last October, haven't swung a club even until the first hole here, so I was pretty happy with an 82, with 4 birdies and almost an eagle. The membership here is amazing. For the most part you can play 12 months /year and it's $185 /month, AND you get every RTJ course in the state and all the range balls you can hit.

This was my favorite hole, par 4 3rd or 4th. I put my drive 4 feet from the water right up the gut. Didn't think I could get there.

Birdied this guy. 7 iron to 6 feet.

This was a cool hole. Pic is from 100 yards off the tee box and you had to fly the gorge on the left there. I put mine as far as you could around the corner about 8 feet in front of the gorge. I thought it was in the shit, though and reloaded, only to put my second proV1 WAY in the gorge all snappy hooky style.

Super downhill par 3. I put one in the drink.

Split fairway par 5. Left was pretty impossible. Driver, 3h to 20 feet, rimmed the putt and left it 2 inches away for birdie. Still reeling after that one a little.

Can't see my ball because it's too close to the hole and the pin is in the way. Birdie #2 on the par 3's.

It bothers me more when Phil applauds Justin Rose for coming back and beating him in the Ryder Cup, but yes, I know that feeling. Also, when a crappy golfer says great shot, when it really isn't. I just say thanks and move along, but it irks me a little. I developed that little pet peeve when my mom started playing and she'd say it about anything that got more than 10 feet in the air.
Sweet golf course dude! how is the adjustment to the greens.? You have a lot of talent for not playing in a year.
The course was really awesome, especially when I walked up to the counter and they said, that'll be $42 with cart, at 8 AM. I guess it was cheap day and they had a half off thing going on. The greens at this place were, aside from ball marks due to all the rain and being really soft, they were perfect. It's been a long time since I liked greens that much. I have to admit though, I'm making a concerted effort to stay away from bermuda grass. Fuck that stuff.
Usually the putter is the first thing to go, but yesterday I felt completely comfortable with it. I only left one putt short and only launched a 40 foot putt 15 feet by one time, haha. Every birdie putt I lined up to I just felt like it was going in. I missed two reasonable ones inside of 20 feet, but the others were all center cut. Some great par saves in there too. It's amazing how much good putting can mask oh so many flaws.
Love the golf trail. Did a week long 12 guy trip there 8 or so years ago. Had no idea it was that inexpensive and you got everything. Good shooting.
Fucking golf, it's like that hot chick that's way out of your league, but she did you one time and now she just teases you. Finished T-30 in the state mid-am, only one four putt and 3-4 three putts for two rounds. The good news is I get to play with 50+ crowd soon.
Tough break. Sorry it wasn't your day. Golf, such a fickle mistress. Golf - An exacting activity that is quite hard to predict and impossible to perfect. Like life.
Took my 13 HC to the club yesterday and won big shooting a boring 37 for nine. 6 pars, 2 boge's and a chip in bird. My new slower, shorter swing was in sync delivering more distance AND accuracy. And I had the luck.
Playing tomorrow for the first time since Aug of last year when the same customer invited me to play in their employee outing. 18 hole Country Club course along the Lake. Cart and fortunately they go with the best ball scramble format for hacks like me.
Spook does not get it, "keep your mouth off my ball".
I can always try.
we used to play with a guy named Sirkin. He used to compliment a shot right at the moment when it started to fade, roll into the woods, pond, trap, or a putt came up short or lipped out. We called it getting sirkincised.
oh hey i forgot to say! i played 9 holes with a guy who works at the course and he was obviously better and more experienced but he complimented me several times during the round and said i was developing a nice swing as he left. i should be mad because he was probably lying.
15th Annual Fish and Chips tourney in Jackson/Victor Sunday, 7th year, same partner...Grand Teton Brewing on every third hole, the smokin' margarita girls, a beverage cart, Grand Teton Vodka tastings, 12-24 beers on each cart plus a fair bit of whiskey. stoked...
