    Where was this?

I work at a high end facility and I play anytime after 3. I play in 2 hours or 2.5 when I'm solo, up to about 4 with a foursome max. When I leave this job, I think I will just quit golf altogether. I can't go back to weekend warrior public golf. You guys are dedicated.

The wheres and whyfores of that slowdown have been added to Wooley's golf lore and will be retold. Getting glared at on my first encounter with the group while returning a club they dropped set the tone. A member of our group hitting into them as they stood hidden on the next tee iced it. Asking to play through was not an option. Shot my handicap too.

Is that the same place as above? Looks like a cool track, reversible. Any inside info on lots at that place, I didn't find much on the webs.

I just got done playing 9 holes with Casey Puckett. Got randomly paired up, he hits the ball a mile off the tee and shot even par. Nice guy.

The fact that a golf thread on the TGR forums exists means I had to post this here.

a guy i played with yesterday shot a "39" on the back. well, except for the ball that wasn't where he swore it landed, dropped, chipped and putted out, no penalty, forget stroke AND distance.

Plus, he played an orange ball. i assume in the last 3 years that I havent played this has become fashionable again. Please no.

I was in Indianapolis for the weekend on a random junket. "The Fort"--a Pete Dye track just outside of town. We complained to the starter/clubhouse twice and they didn't do shit other than giving us the option of going off the front (again) after we got to ten and there were four groups (including us) waiting at the tee. I would have made more of a stink, but the odds of me playing there again are non-existent.

Nice course, though the greens were a little chewed up. Something screwy that I've never seen before: there's fescue/wild prairie areas all over the place (typical enough). Starter says at the beginning of the round: "if you hit it into the fescue, it's not a penalty. Just drop outside of the fescue, no closer to the hole." I assume it's to keep groups moving/not looking for their balls, but it pretty much pisses in the face real golf. I didn't hit into the fescue all day... but I did hit into the woods a couple times. Alas, no relief there.

I don't understand why people who 'know' golf can play that way. They're cheating themselves...nobody else gives a shit. Unless you're playing for $$...then his ass would be called out.

I played with a true scratch for the first time a couple weeks ago at Gleneagles Centenary course. It was pretty damn fun to play with someone of that caliber. Such a different game for them. Meanwhile as I shank a shot he's giving me the "nice swing!".

we do play for money, and he was my opponent, but i won the hole. When i asked what he scored and he replied, i looked up from the score card at him and asked if he cared for an asterisk (we're friends). He has an oddly tuned sense of golf justice.

On your other point, I played against a guy that played as a 2 but was a scratch all day. It was in a 4-ball at Longmeadow Country Club and his partner couldnt keep the ball on the planet, but the rules allowed for him to be in our division because of his partner (it was a no strokes division). HE toyed with us for 6 or seven holes, then snapped our necks like chicken bones. It was a clinic and an asskicking all in one, and it was fun to watch.

I rubbed some poison ivy at Lester Park lake course, looking for Jr's ball Sunday. That stuff sucks. I got beat by one stroke at the hands of a thirteen year old. Kid is going to be pretty good.

My Dad plays a lot in the midwest, yesterday he was telling me about courses that have these "no-mow" areas just like you described. If they hit into it, just drop out side w/out pentalty. First I've heard of it.

I've played courses that have a similar rule, but it's still a stroke, but not penalized the distance. As in, what many/most hacks including myself do in casual rounds, not going back to the tee if a ball can't be found on a drive...

In a league that I played in for years, we had a "Tiger Woods Rule". If a ball is lost on the course and both competitors agree on where it landed and about where it was hiding, a drop is allowed with no penalty. The reasoning is that if Tiger Woods had hit the shot, there would be 10 fans, a marshal, a camera man and a TV commentator all pointing to the leaf or grass clump hiding the ball.

A friend sent me this. Tiger at a practice round today

I played a round at Ridgeveiw CC. Saturday. Less than 4 hours with nobody in front or nobody behind us. Bettered my host by one one the front, wheels came off the cart on sixteen with a triple, lost by two.
Yesterday we played the Legends at Giants Ridge. Got beat by one by the 13 year old kid from down the street. This is the little brat at the local 9 hole course giving me a lesson.

Here is a photo of the par 5 3rd.

    Par 4 4th.

    Par 4 8th

This is a very playable course and very well maintained.

to his credit, he does 2 of the 3 ups; he shows up, and he keeps up. the shutting up is a work in progress.

Annual trip to Scottsdale for golf and broken down ASU alum last weekend.

Played Kierland, WeKoPa Saguaro, Grayhawk Raptor, and Boulders North (we always finish at the Boulders). Pretty solid week, if I could lose my one triple per round. If I can get rid of the mental blow up hole, I am in the 70s every round (instead of 80/81 every round).

Practice rounds this week and club championship next weekend...need to avenge my playoff loss last year.

So we lose the front and 2 presses and are 3 down on the back and lost the overall, and my partner is complimenting every shot they make every putt they drop, as they break our necks. Does this drive anyone besides me out of your mind. Dude, fucking grind so we can win a goddamned hole get off your knees.

Hog press on 18 for the win and the erasure of a 5 way loss plus junk.

US loss, but damn, MIchelle Wie can play golf. Beatrice Ricari is amazing, ruthless and a really hot chick.

Stuttered basically, and missed taking a photo when IMO the hottest chick out there, Azahara Munoz walked up to me in the gallery during the lightning/rain delay, because she thought I was someone else, she lost it laughing when I answered in perfect Spain spanish, telling her I have many brothers..however, sorry, my name is not Pedro.

Holy shit, I'm a retard. Went out solo Sat A.M., paired with three random guys. Shitty round. Anyhew, finishing up on 18, I grab my cartmate's wedge off the green... In the course of shaking hands, etc., I forget it's in my hand and put it in my bag, along with my putter. Thankfully, he notices he's missing a wedge before we leave the course... But I'm sure he thinks I'm some sort of psychotic klepto. Began the round leaving three clubs just off the first green. Not a good day.
