Staying in the red this week

(with some weird temperature fluctuations that indicate temporary or localized inversion? Just odd to see cold temps & rain icon at some points — today & Fri)
I went to bed with this fx for portland

But that got revised overnight to a more expected yet-still-cold pattern

Little late for a PSA but the usual slick spot below the Sherman camp area on the way to HR was treacherous last night. First time I almost lost it.
Been a little volatile in the CO fcsts too - be fucking careful late today and tomorrow morning in CO: bit of a warm up before getting cold AF again early Tue and staying that way. little layering of density to go with the usual windjacking. Snowing nicely W of Redmond this morning
Models are jumping around a bit, as always, low elevation snow is tough around here. The track of that low is critical. It does look like some warm air aloft could be an issue with some freezing rain. What does look good is big snow in the mountains...
Soft turns to you all, and slow and steady on those roads with all the idiots unprepared out there!
MHM pulled the plug for tomorrow already
Tline acknowledging the weather but hasn't acted on it yet
On a good day flachelor has a couple of lifts spinning.
Several lifts were on diesel Saturday, I wonder if that is part of the early closure notice
I asked about that, they said there wasn't a power outage. Maybe a glitch in the new 6 pack?
I got run over by a snowboarder today, last pitch skiers right of blue. I was opening it up going 25-30 and got slammed from the left rear. He was very apologetic, but I chewed his ass hard. He tried to make excuses that his hood block his vision, but I interrupted him, THEN SLOW THE FUCK DOWN! Someone reported an accident, had to do an incident report. Ears were ringing, vision got blurry, but went away soon. I still made 8 more runs
Gunna get nuts in the Cascades next few days.

Tline closed for wind
MtB is essentially closed as well
No surprise there. The wind was pounding last night. Snowing like a mofo at La PonderitaQuote:
7:00am Update: As anticipated, the promised extreme winds and blizzard conditions have arrived making for a challenging morning. Cloudchaser, Skyliner, Pine Marten, and Outback will be CLOSED today
Just noticed Meadows left the chairs on MHX during the storm. What the fuck?
maybe cline butte will be skiable by tomorrow...
Pfffft. I was nightskiing one evening in the late 1980's on Yellow. They did finally close, but not for at least a couple of hours after the anemometer failed on a 85mph gust. That old Riblet was a swinging!
Must be a low level wind, Magic Mile is pretty calm...

Almost 100, gas up the chain saws.
Glad to hear the collision wasn't serious. Skiers right of blue = Whoopee.
Similar close call on Whoopee but at the top just below the cut over from Reservoir Hill last weekend with the kiddo. All I heard was the edge scraping snow and then the guy goes flying by a few feet away as I'm looking downhill. Must have aired off the top or lost control, but he was moving. Looking forward to the mountain opening up more following this week.
I did something similar this weekend at Bachy on the 2nd lap down Outback. Came out of the trees hot, and had one of those split second decisions to make as there was a 5 foot drop to the cat track. I decided to hit the brakes but ended up scraping off a stump and out went the skis and me flying through the air, feet first. Landed on my left side into a pile of snow on the edge of the cat track. Two other skiers off to my right about 10 feet from where I augured in that also appeared to have done about the same thing as myself. No worse for where other than my pride being slightly dented as it happened by the chair lift. Getting too old for hits like that though.
Getting too old for hits like that though.
Be safe out there gentlemen.
I love that shot — it’s like the stake is drowning
