After a hour plus of contortions cursing and a bunch of extensions and knuckles I free up the O2 sensor, then I start in on the plug which sits on top of the fucking transmission with the release facing inboard and no room for the hand of any human regardless of age. Finally I romance it off and figure I'm on the home stretch. Open the box (bosch) and the fucking thing is a returned item with the plastic torn up, copper anti-seize missing and already smeared on the threads. Well screw that I'm not installing an electrical component that someone else has fuct with and returned.
Back to the store Explain that the part ain't new and the anti-seize is missing and they say Oh hmmnh, let me check another one. No anti seize there either, like its not supposed to be there. I take it and clearly its been returned as well. Then the genius tells me he checked five boxes and none of them have anti-seize. At this point I'm thinking that this place is the fucking REI of parts stores and I'm going to return everything here. They check with the store in the neighboring town and they indicate that they have one, new and complete in the original packaging. I head over and pick it up and get to complete this pig of a job as the sun sets.
The moral of the story - remember to check the part before you leave the store and Fuck Autozone.

The state of local auto parts stores is pretty terrible and getting worse. I used to have a Napa and Car Quest here and two small local stores that were very good. There is one local store that's not as good as it used to be and the others are gone so stuck with Advance and Auto Zone. Nearest Napa is ~20 miles away now :( I need to research what other options I have because AZ and Advance bug me for anything other than commodity type stuff.
Rock Auto ftw. Parts often arrive in 2 or 3 days even with the cheap shipping. I often plug parts numbers from Rock Auto into Amazon just to comparison shop. Sometimes Amazon does well on high volume stuff. Always use the 5% off discount code available with a quick search for Rock Auto.
It amazes me that you can usually get the top quality premium brand name aftermarket components for 40% cheaper than the cheapest junk generic parts they sell at local parts stores. Even heavy stuff like brake rotors. The difference almost always changes the equation enough that I end buying the premium parts online.
Autozone stores transactions under your phone number and the database doesn't expire unlike advanced Auto (2 year expiration and they print receipt on paper that is illegible after two years). Napa always requires original receipt here but it is a real receipt and they honor it). Still I think Autozone is best for warranty.
Also parts rental. The retail price they charge if you don't return it is outrageous and the hassle sucks. Check Rock or Amazon before renting might make more sense to buy. Ie my recent spring compressor purchase. Should have bought one many rentals ago. Same with things like pitman arm pullers. So useful, why rent?

Just a bunch of random Toyota dealers with somewhat discounted parts. If someone knows the Toyota version of Pelican or fcpeuro, I want to know!

In AZones defense I did borrow a nice inner tie rod remover this week that made life much nicer. They loaner tool thing sees to have changed they process it as a sale and when they get it back they process it as s return and credit your account.

I replaced a dead battery yesterday. Also, a turn signal lamp.
Checked front end alignment on bimmer, slight toe in. So I adjusted that out. Adjusted the windshield washer nozzles so they all shoot in the right spot, tightened valve cover bolts, removed window tint. All on the e34.
Did a complete test of throttle position sensor on the Porsche both at the dme, (computer) and at the sensor for shits and giggles. Checks out.

SpeedTech had a black friday sale. I'm more focused on better sound, so any power will be a plus. They sent some soft bolts though, so I'm gonna get my mess cleaned up at a nearby shop. Very slight exhaust leak on one side connecting to the block.

I am Done with aluminum radiators.
I have loved them. I could not make the rig’s 22re motor overheat, midsummer A/C and all. My top speed was no longer limited by engine temperature.
This one is the 2nd failure in 18 months. Not repairable. New in April.
I did pressure test it to be sure it wasn’t something that I screwed up. Bubbles from both top corners.
My local shop (Yoda1) is solidly standing behind his warranty, again. Nick changed me over to an all metal CSF dual core copper unit. I hope it works nearly as well as the aluminum ones.
I need to find something else in his shop. Good guy.

I think they are Toyota specific, but no reason you can't run em. I bought flare attachment hardware online from oem parts source. Com. Here is that front one properly attached with new trim.
