Kicking Horse pic's form last sunday

Even though I was supposed to meet up with Aaron and friends in Fernie on Saturday (you know what they say about friends and pow ;)) ...The 50cm's of pow in Kicking Horse was calling my name. So the wife and I made a on the spot decision got our junk together and headed for Golden about noon on Saturday.
After we got settled in with our two packsacks, ski boots and a dozen cold Sleemans we went out for a nice Greek dinner and some beers. Back to the motel and inhaled a couple more beers and then to bed.
Got up in time for a quick, A&W nutritional brekky and then up to the hill we went.
....and what a great day it was!

This is Mrs. FFH at the top of The Golden Eagle Express which is the highest gondola in the rockies...it was my first time skiing off a gondola, what a civilized way up the mountain!

Here's Maren again after a short bootpack to the back rim of Feuz Bowl. She is standing on a cornice which you must drop to get in. Feuz is one steep mother of a bowl!

This is my wife on our last run ripping down into Feuz Bowl from Redemption Ridge.

This was my last line into Feuz Bowl. I know it doesn't look that steep in the photo but I would guess it to be 48-50 degrees. It was all very soft and in the odd spot still untracked. What a perfect run to end the day and weekend with.

Nice to see. Psyched to check out KH! Will be heading more or less that direction on Friday. Any forecasts for this coming weekend for Nelson, Fernie, or Golden?

If you see a group of japanese tele skiers starting Saturday for 10 days with one white dude following that will be us.

I love that place! Was there two years ago with GF and it was gorgeous! We had dinner one night in the Eagle's Nest restaurant and it was a spooky trip up in the gondola. High-ly recommended.:cool:

How come there is only boot top snow everywhere if they received 50cms? Where's the face shot images? You had to be able to find some deeper stuff than that even if it last snowed on friday.

I think its kind of funny you were thinking Feuz bowl was steep. I skied a bunch of the lines into the bowl (including the white wall) and thought that once you were into the bowl it was pretty mellow. The entrances could get a bit zesty, but my own 'seat of the pants' evaluation of the steepness would be about 10 deg less than yours.

Maybe someone should measure.

It never snowed 50cm all in one shot and it is spring so things settle in fairly quick. These pi'cs were on sunday, the snow was already skied on for 2 days. I did manage to find the odd spots where things were untracked, but the only way I could get a face shot would be to get in a really low tele crouch. I'm sure there were some pretty good pow stashes if you knew where to look...but it was my first time there.
Most locals were skiing in Rudy's bowl and Super Bowl getting totally fresh lines. The next time I go I will bring my touring gear and get me sum too!

split locations for next years summit? 5 days at whistler and 5 days at kh.

On Fez bowl it depends where you drop in. If off the chair you do a U turn and drop in off the ridge under the chair, after the chutes off the ridge its not supper steep. If you go straight off the chair and hike around after the cornice drop its still stays pretty step right to the bowl floor.

Maybe your right. It was my first time there and I was stoked, yes the enterance was what I was really reffering to when I said 48-50 on the one pic...I was just thinking of the high saddle in Fernie which is 52 deg...it wasn't that steep but I thought it was close at least for the first couple tuns till it widened out and then it does mellow.
BTW where is the White wall?...those chutes off Redemption Ridge?

Great TR, brought back some cool memories... KH is really huge and I'd love to hit it after a dump. Quite easy to find fresh snow if you're willing to hike 30 minutes.
