I just got a pair of 190 pow+'s from squatch (thanks man, check is on the way!) and was wondering where to mount them. I bought these skis for powder to perform better than my squads in pow while skiing similarly. I am 6'3-6'4 and 178-180lbs (hopefully increasing though) and I do not want any tip dive at ALL. NONE, I ski in the PNW and the snow is very heavy, if the tip goes under you go down. So I am wondering where I should moun them inorder to have best pow pow performance.
1-2cm back of the mounting point.
mount them back = more float, less over the bars, less turny

I have to disagree... I found that with my 180s (smaller size I know) mounted on the line, I could never sink the tips in heavy snow.
I ski these in tahoe - so usually wet dense stuff, they are great. The one time we had superlight blower, I did have some tip dive issues (hard to decamber such a stiff ski in light snow)
So on that blower day, I played with the demo bindings to see if I could get them floating better with a rearward mount. At 1.2cm behind the line they did float better, but turned like shit, and I wouldn't recomend it. This comes from a guy who usually likes back-mounted bindings. The line is already pretty far back on these.
Marshal usually recommends mounting on the line on 180s, and +1.5 on 190s. I'd say on the line on 190s would make them pretty unsinkable.
If you still have tip dive issues just spatulate them ;)
I have definitely had tip dive issues on a pair of 180's mounted +1.
Have another pair that never really got ridden this year mounted with demo bindings. Rode them 1/2 day in super deep and them tips were diving, but it was about 2-3 feet of fresh so most tips would. That being said BillH's EHP's weren't diving. I had them -1 probably before we called it a day.
I think the tips of the Pow +'s being so stiff, can be difficult getting them them not dive...
Oh yeah, I'm 5'9" and about 165ish.

I would caution you on mounting back from the line, simply because that is a LOT of ski. And this is coming from a 240 lb guy who skis BDs as an everyday ski.

Sorry, nope. Although if you're serious I could redirect you to somebody who was hoarding. Or you could pick up a pair of plate-version BDs, which I highly recommend. Just rip the plate and put some drivers on.Quote:

Like the flex. Tips are softer than my squads but ski gets very stiff under foot.
FWIW, i would NEVER mount a 190 pow + back. i skied both of my pairs at +1.5 and that was $. more back and they blow ass in trees and tighter spots. i never dove my tips, and i am for sure a shovel driving kind of skier.
those things rock. you'll dig them. super super stable, turny enough, and a money flex pattern.
So how did they do in pow at +1.5? If they did well for you at 40-45lbs more than me I'd mount them right there no hesitation.
also they kind of have a disgusting amount of camber for a pow ski, anyone have any ideas on how to help it settle out. According to squatch the skis have only been skied a few times so maybe it'll leave on its own. Im not looking to rocker them like laser did but more to pre maturely "age it" a little.
Edit: A note on both the mounting question and the Camber question. I do not go heliskiing and I do not live in alaska. There is a very real possibilty that these skis are likely to be skiing wind scoured ice on the way to the powder and in the same run as the powder, thats why I got these over a ski like the pontoon. So I dont want these to be useless on hardpack

and they are not powder skis. they are fat, hard charging skis. they stomp airs and make big fast turns. that said, they should float you a better than a squad. +10mm and a bit softer tip.
super super fun skis.
and like i said, i never stuffed the tip, and am for sure one who pressures the shovel hard.

And I was aware of what this ski was and wasnt before I bought it, I wasnt looking for a lazy pow ski. If the ski demends a lot, I can give it alot. (I hope)
