Tuning Q. -- base high skis -- unusually quickly?
Noticing that my SAC Scott P3s were acting squirrelly, and they seem to have developed a base high condition pretty quickly. There's maybe 10-12 days on them, lots of small rock hits, so lots of minor edge tuning (no filing yet, just freehand stone & diamond stone w/ edge guide). I've only really tuned the side edges, not the base edges, with the exception of smoothing out burrs on the base edges.
So do ski edges wear down faster on hardpack shit conditions like this year has been so far? Just seemed odd to me that they became base high so quickly.
FWIW, skis have been used mostly for dorking around on groomers as fast as I can go, no rails or park abuse. So all the damage inflicted on them so far has been from hard snow, ice, and bits of rock. And some weeds and the occasional tree branch.
