i love poutine as much as the next guy, to a fault, but i would like to say that nothing kills an afternoon of skiing like a serving of poutine at lunch. fucking shit is like a bag of cement in my tummy. there is also a great poutine reference in super troopers, so that makes it extra cool.
It's good stuff, I wish I knew somewhere around here to get it.
the only place i have had it outside of quebeck is in the northeast kingdom, i think other regions should pick up the slack and start putting gravy and cheese on thier frites, with a lrge glop of mayo to compleate the deliciousness......... mmmmmmm mayo
So we were walking the Main in Montreal, heading to your typical greasy spoon diner, and I was debating my upcoming order. On the one hand, I was craving a poutine, and on the other hand, it has been so long since I'd sampled some smoked meat.
Walking in to the fluroscent lit, green vinyl upholstered, paper hat staffed eatery, I still hadn't made up my mind. I scan the meny and, lo and behold, "smoked meat poutine" is listed in the combo specials.
"Sweet," I explain as I order and envision the small order of each soon to arrive at my table.
Anyone know where this is going?
Waitress arrives with a large, solitary plate. My poutine. With strips of smoked meat layed out on top of it. Apparently the look on my face was priceless.
