anyone else buy their season pass to SK yet?
since i still havent had a season i decided i would love to spend my nights at the king... does anyone else do this or will i be pretty lonley on top of Americas STEEPEST mountain?
p.s. theres already jumps built on the two lowest patches of snow =)
did you get a pass elsewhere? if so, you might be pretty worked at the end of the day to ride at night. night riding is a novelty--maybe only worth it if there's good snow. don't think they keep the lift to the top running at night, but i could be wrong on that.Quote:

This year they installed patio heating (gas lanterns) to cover the entire slope! This is groundbreaking, and could herald a new age of night skiing revenue.
The concept is only possible due to the fact that heat rises, (and cold sinks), so raising the ambient air temperature will not affect the snow surface temps...although that could be a future improvement!
In other news, Freebird Burritos is opening a franchise in the ice rink. This is exciting stuff!

yea i will be working at JHMR so i will be riding there everyday... its just, as a Texan who will probablly only ever have this one snow season i want to be on it as much as possible so i got the pass... if i go like 8 times this year thats my money so i hope it wasnt a bad descision... plus it might be worth it just for hillclimb week
i heard cutting all the snowmobilers is fun =)

I usually get a pass to the King. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet this year, but probably will soon. It’s 3 blocks from my office so it makes a great lunch break. Last year I might have hiked it in the AM more than I rode the lifts.

1. The hillclimb crowd is equal parts moderately amusing and mildly annoying. You get your fill of them doing whatever normal activities/errands you do around town. Not worth going out of your way to see them.
2. The Snowking pass is silly if you are working at the village. It's a great deal for working stiffs, locals with kids, etc. But if you just have one season there, spend your days wearing your legs out at the village, your nights chasing recently graduated coeds around the bars. Buy one or two hours on the two nights a year that it's actually dumped at the king and you didn't get enough during the day at the village.
3. Why just one year in Jackson? No reason to hurry back to Texas, or anyplace else for that matter (but especially not Texas). Enjoy Jackson and leave when you've had enough (are sick of being broke).
