TR Still going at Alta 6.10.06

Went up Collins Gulch with Tele Mark:

Coverage is still good, the snow starts at the Wildcat Chair.

It was a beautiful day for a walk in the mountains:

American Fork Twins, the top of the Snowbird tram &
Snowbird's tunnel from Peruvian Gulch to Mineral Basin:

The skiing was good in the Main Chute:

then back up to Germ Pass & finished on Race Course back to the car:

Good snow on the north facing, but south facing Cardiff, Toledo &
Flagstaff are done for the season. It was a good one:

nice, thats what i wanted to do yesterday morning but my complete out of shape jong ass could only make it to collins mid load. i then puked all over the slope ,so if you see a nice bright orange spot above rock gulley don't ski through it;)

Had a fun day, however between suncups and runnels it's time to switch over to "turns-all-year" mode and keep the streak alive (34 months and counting). High Rustler is still in reasonably good shape for mid-june

4lbs/pair is what Mark tells me. That's the fatter version of Trab's 3.4lbs/pair rando race skis.

Between biking, hiking, running & skiing I'd rather ski - as long as the hike to ski ratio is good.

Will be out of town for a couple weeks. We'll see what's left when I get back.

Yes, a true 4 lbs. Not exactly super floaty at 105/102-73-89, but more than enough especially with the oversized Duo tip.

The Duo Sint Aeros in approx. 2 ft. of Utah's finest this past January.

I think my Dynafit D712s are similar dimensions but betww 5.5 & 6 pounds (never weighed them).

I almost never use them, though, so it's hard to justify anything lighter.

@ 4 pounds you must absolutely fly uphill!!

Probably not of terrible interest to the alpine boot/trekker/metal binding crowd, I'm guessing. :)

Don't confuse light wieght and performance, you just need the right ski. :)

Not confusing the 2 at all...but for *some* of the skiing I do, a ski of those dimensions of ANY weight wouldn't cut it. (Yes, I'm sure I could ski anything with them, but they wouldn't be as much fun.)

That said, for *some* of the touring I do, I would LOVE to try out that ski!!
