Any maggots signing up for the Snowbird comp?
I'm going to go for it. I just got the OK on time off and reserved my space for the qualifier. It would be cool if some other maggots were entering too. I'm excited to see whether I choke or go off. I get all juiced just thinking about it. I'm sure I'd piss myself with anticipation up top. It'll be a nice way to start off the mini anyway.
Those who have competed...what was it like? I've never even watched one of these things. Needless to say I'm pumped and scared, but not necessarily in that order.

I got a lot of great advice on this topic from lemon boy and others on this over on p-mag last winter....but sadly, the thread's are gone.
These comps are super super fun (and gnarly and rad and hella cool ;) ) Heck I thought the weeks preceding the comp was just as fun, if not more fun, than the actual comp. Knowing that your're signed up and committed to one of these, it pushes your skiing even farther than usual and you start looking at lines differently...ex: ok, here's how I normally would ski this line....but how would I ski it in a comp?....it's usually much faster, or linked w/o stopping, or more technical in some way. You then begin skiing like that more often than not.
I've only done one of these things, so I don't have a lot of experience in them, but I thought it was definitely worth the time and money and definitely look forward to doing it again.
oh and for qualifying.....I think it's best to ski a line that's totally within your capabilities and rip the schit out of it....rather than ski a line that's just beyond and flail on it. take that advice with a grain of salt though 'cause I missed qualifying by .5 points :(

Z did it, but then he's not scared to be pumped, if the price is right.
you gotta wear a monkey on your helmet when you compete.
