EC Mini: Jay Conditions Report
Mit and I did some reconnaisance work today. There might be some shoddy pics to post, but bottom line: it was good. My best day there this season (December was good, but a bit less base). We scored quite a few continuous, fresh, boot-to-knee deep turns through the woods and it was all light.
Didn't make it up to the Ridge, but the Saddle looked filled in and the apron looked as good as it has to date (which isn't really saying much since it's been pretty ugly all season...)
Oh yeah, and it was snowing lightly most of the afternoon and getting heavier when we left.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and raise your hand if you'll be there Saturday),
d.
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't just see it!
The meteorologist on the Weather Channel's "Storm Watch" just used the word "SHELEIGHLEE" in his report. I'll try to quote what he said for all you lucky mother f'&$^#$ that are in North Vermont tonight:
he said, and I'll try to quote:
"...if you want to know where to go skiing in New England tonight,
go to JAY PEAK!
they are going to get SHELEIGHLEE'D tonight and end up with a foot or more of snow..."
Someone with the cable on their computer has to record that (IT WILL BE REPEATED ALL NIGHT, right??) and have put it online - that was a CLASSIC Jay Peak promo right there!
Jay rocks! Try not to tell anybody, though!!!
