Wife needs a new bike. So many good friggin options. Any reason not to get one of the above bikes or to choose one over the other?
Sizing good, geo good. She rips. Good all around rider. Currently on an esker elkat. Looking at higher end builds.
Love any feedback.

Fit and finish is maybe a bit better on the hugene. Jeffsy is maybe a little more plush over small bumps, hugene is probably a bit more efficient. For an equivalent build, hugene will be lighter.
With the current propain sale, it's kinda hard to pass up a hugene.

If she's a medium, I'll have a mint condition Transition Sentinel (carbon GX Transmission build) for sale shortly... right there with the Hugene in almost all aspects, IMO.
She’s actually between a small and medium. Most bikes she’s a small. She has a friend with a smuggler that I can have her ride for sizing. Would be an option for sure.Quote:

I know the ripmo has been popular and it pedals well. Not up to date on the hugene or propains customer service. Jeffsy has been getting great reviews and i find those guys ez to deal with. I think they have an additional 10% off of everything until tge end of the month as well, even on top of current sales. Jeffsy has a lot of rave reviews and i think the small is a mullet and their bikes probably have the best stand over. A couple friends ive suggested that bike to ,and bought them, are very happy. A buddy loves the all around capability of his ripmo but thats full 9er and not great standover, but thats fine for him. Im interested in hearing more about propain and the hugene though

Pretty much what I’ve been hearing between the ripmo and Jeffsy . Ripmo is more efficient, Jeffsy probably is more fun for most people.Quote:

Full disclosure this is literally the "only" reason she discovered the jeffsy. She loves that thing and frankly, I'm alright with it. Unreal spec.Quote:

I've spent time on a Jeffsy (albeit not the current version). Spent a bit more time on an Elkat. Owned a Hugene. Currently own a Sentinel.
Sentinel is probably closest to the Elkat in terms of suspension, but completely different feel due to geometry. Sentinel feels like more bike than any of the other options. Hugene is much lighter than an Elkat and feels peppier. Less planted on descents though. Jeffsy is a pretty middle of the road option.
Tough to give any more coherent suggestions than that without knowing her preferences, where she's riding, etc.
Yes propain prices look quite good. I think the hugene is under 30lbs as well. Stand over looks really good as well. Ill have to add those guys to the watch list

Yep, sure did. I personally like the Smuggler a bit better than the Hugene, but they're both great bikes. The medium I have is one of our "demo bikes", but it was only ridden on two trips and otherwise saw time as my wife's bike - which means she rode it on dirt roads and bike paths. Thus the mint condition. I will also have a really nice medium Sentinel for sale if she wants something a bit bigger.Quote:

But the suspension is less cushy. It rides relatively high in it's travel and it's not overly plush.
The hugene feels more like a true trail bike. It's goes uphill well, and it goes downhill fine. The Elkat felt a bit more downhill oriented, but it loses out on some stability just due to somewhat dated geometry.
Smokkan's smuggler would be a rad option if the size / price fits. Those are cool bikes.

Bumping this thread---if anyone sees an Orchid colored small smuggler around, do let me know. Still kicking around the propain, but since the sale isn't quite as amazing the smuggler is still sort of hanging out as an option.
