Anyone know anything about the 4frnt VCT's

I was just wondering a few things about the VCT's that 4frnt makes, I am looking into getting some Volkl Gotama's or 4frnt VCT's. I cant find much information about the VCT's, I mean the dimensions are almost exact to the Gotamas, but I am wondering what the flex is like, what the weight is like, sidecut, and stuff to compare the two skis. I will most likely only be using these to ski bi powder days, or snowmobile days, I have a pair of scratch BC's that I will use on normal resort powder days, and AR5's for everything else. But I just want something that floats and is a little more stable on steeper deeper terrain than my scratchs. So right now its either the Gotama's or VCT's

Please excuse me while I dredge this thread up. Looks like no one answered poor FoShizzle about the VCT, so now that I'm in the market for a longer straighter wider pow ski though, and 6 months have passed since the start of this thread, perhaps some of you have demoed or put some laps on these boards and can offer some beta.

From the description it looks like their characteristics change quite a bit as the lengths change. The 190 has a raised tail in lieu of the full twin, and is supposedly stiffer with a 31.5m turn radius. That's pretty straight.

What have you 4FRNT owners found as far as durability on any of the 4FRNT skis?

yeah i just happened to be looking at the specs on these and realized that they're a wider explosiv (120-95-112 +9 everywhere, the got is +5 everywhere). depending on stiffness, could maybe be a similar ski only wider?

I've only hand flexed the 190 VCT but it seemed to be a bit stiffer than a Gotama. Surprisingly light too.

As far as 4frnt durability, my first gen. 180 MSP's are still holding up great. Hoping to snag the 187's next year.

I posted a review of next years 182 VCT, do a search for that. As far as durability goes, I have the first gen 187 MSP and they're still holding up great.

I called ProctorJones and they had 1 pair of 190's left for $400, so I pull the trig. Then, I'll write my own review, suckas!

Isn't next years 190 EHP the same as this years 190 VCT? And the VCT will only come up to 182 or 185 something next year? Could be wrong but that's what I remember reading. And the 193 EHP will be slightly bigger than the 190.

190 EHP is this year's 190 VCT but with a more turned down tail. VCT is only coming out in 175 and 182 next season. 193 EHP is quick a lot bigger then the 190 (112 vs 104 underfoot).

Not to mention it has the megacore which is the full length thick heavy maple that they use in the Supermodel. Think MSP Supermodel but 193cm and 112mm underfoot it is an effing beast. Think B-Squad flex in a Sanouk minus the swallow tail :eek: My buddy flexed it at SIA and he couldn't beleive it. A true TGR ski.

According to the site, the 190 is stiffer than the shorter sizes, and has a half-twin. I'm thinking it's probably like the Jak/Mothership 190 which had a much less pronounced twin. They're on the way, so I'll snap a photo when they arrive.

i'm considering getting the 182 VCT instead of next years 183 gotama for my everyday ski.

i read his review, and it sounds like a good choice.

Hey bio-smear, how did you like the 190 VCT? I can't find a review by someone who has skied it or can compare it to anything else.

I'm thinking aboot getting a VCT/EHP 190 and would likr to hear some info on it before I buy another ski without knowing more aboot it.

I bought my 192 999's without talking to anyone and after I drilled them, found out they skied better mounted rearward. Now I have two sets of holes in my 999s. Don't want to make that mistake again.

But I will add that, according to 4FRNT, the 190cm VCT/EHP is stiffer than its little brother, and I think the turn radius is slighly longer too. My impressions echo that of ptavv though. If you have to open up the 182 to let it shine, the same is true, if not more so for the 190. It likes speed in the deep or whatever.

-1cm from the marked "freeride" line feels nice to me. No tip dive, but they feel responsive and I can stay neutral easily. I'll measure an absolute value from the tail later on and edit. The twin tail is a half-twin, not nearly as tall as the 182.

Edges of the topsheets are brittle on the '05/06 if you tend to ski with your knees close together, but ptavv had no prob cuz he wrings them out like a GS ski.

I've put a few days on my 190 EHPs, resort pow, crud and a couple days in a cat. So far - so good.
Stayed with the factory mount and haven't found any negatives. Seem to ski their full length at speed in pow and crud, but are also super quick to toss around in the trees. I'm not a big huck guy, but they provide a nice landing platform for the little 10-12' airs I've taken them off of.
I suck at the whole review thing, but I can try and answer any questions you've got on them.

What else do you ski on? What can you compare them to? How do they hold up in heavy crud? On the hardpack? Where do you ski?

I hesitated on buying a pair over the summer and missed them, and am kinda kicking myself. Should I get these? Or just run my 999's?

Im happy with mine (black 190) except the base seems a little soft + thin, and a little topshet de-lam at the tail. they're a little stiffer than (black) Gots, this years ehp 190 is a good bit stiffer than mine.
