SRAM customer service hits a homerun with me.

(No, not a sexy homerun.)

So, I broke the barrel adjuster on my SRAM X.7 right-side trigger shifter in a crash. There's no way to fix it and it's seriously screwing up my shifting mojo.

I call local shops. Nobody has a spare sitting around. I call SRAM, ask for the warranty department and get "James" on the phone.

I explain what happened, how nobody local has the part, and I ask them to send me a replacement. He puts me on hold to see if he can find one lying around that he can stick in an envelope. No luck.

He then starts the process of ordering some to express ship to a local shop where I can pick them up for free. Alas, there are none in stock.

So, James decides to ship out a brand new complete shifter to my local shop for me, for no charge, and then tells me I can keep the old one (that only has a broken barrel adjuster, remember) to use for spare parts.

SRAM customer service, just like their shifting, is FKNA smooooth. :)

I got a crash replacement X.0 shifter for my DH bike at Snowmass for $20 ($99 retail) from the SRAM guys, which I thought was pretty sweet, since my old one looked like I had run it over with a truck.

Siiiick! Good to hear they back up their goods with CS goods :)

basom, my X7 shifters are kickin arse so far. I like them better than my XT shifters on my trailbike.

Got the X.7 shifters on the Bullit, and I dig.

I've got a X.7 rear coming in the mail as we speak. X.9 has bearings instead of bushings in the pulleys, but other than that the differences are pretty minimal. I figured X.7 would be fine.

I've got X9 rear...but like Bag said I'm sure the X7 would be fine.

It's sort of built in w/ the SRAM rear mechs.

oops. mechanicly, i have to have things pointed out.

i can get x7 shifters and rear for around $65 in a package. i think i've decided to give er.

Sounds like "James" and you really hit it off, you shifter whore.

BTW, yes, Sram is good shit ( running attacks with my XT).

I have an X7 derailleur w/my X.0 shifter. The X.0 shifter came on it, and I bought the X7 after destroying the X.0 derailleur that was on there. Seems to work fine. I'm sure my future problems will be attributable to bashing the thing into rocks, which would just make a higher end model more expensive next time I have to replace the damn thing.
