My GF is having a hard time finding a saddle that's comfy yet still performance oriented. She's tried solid and "vulva valley" saddles, seems to prefer the valley, but the one she has now just plain sucks.
I know saddle fit is pretty personal, but I thought someone might be able to offer some suggestions.
(Could this thread have been called "Paging Kellie?")
I swear by my Selle San Marco Era saddles for both road and mtb. The saddle doesn't have a "valley" but it's a narrower profile than most saddles so you end up sitting on your...er..."sit bones" where you belong instead of on those sensitive naughty bits.
I'm pretty sure this is the problem. I got tipped off to this last week when we were riding and she said, "I feel like I'm sitting on my clit." It was subtle, but I picked it up.Quote:

My girlfriend, sister in law, and mom's friend all have them and love them. They all got them after complaining about soreness, never complained again after getting the new ones.

girl I ride with has had good luck with both.
Wish I could help here - as it turns out "paging Kellie" is a bad name for this because I tend to make whatever I have work. My past bike was so uncomfortable that the seat was the least of my problems . . . so far, the standard seat on the Madone seems to be working fine. Perhaps things will change as I up the mileage :)
Mrs V likes the terry butterfly as well
I'm the same way. I've been using the WTB that came on my Yeti forever... I typically think I need to ride more and I'll be fine - it does match up with my sit bones, but I've been riding 6 days a week lately and my butt still hurts, so it's probably time to try something else...Quote:

Word. I'm with you in the less-is-more opinion. I LOVE my Selle Italia Flite saddles. The Trans Am is rad, but it seems like they're all gel flow crap now. My fav. is the straight leather one. I HATE the Terry stuff. They're all way too big, get in the way if your on your mtb. bike, and far too squishy.Quote:

Ditto - I tried a terry saddle once and hated it too. Not only is too squishy bad, but too wide is worse - you can't maneuver easily for descents. My saddle now isn't perfect, but I've tried a few that were horrible. Whatever my new saddle is, it's going to be less squishy than the one that's on there now - I think that's the problem.Quote:

For some reason, certain designs assume that just because women have hips, they are big therefore the saddles need more width to support said hips. This can make that clit pressure thing more prevelant.
