TR: High Pressure

Don't get me wrong, I love skiing pow. But if it's snowing in CO, the avalanche danger is usually elevated as well. And I love skiing steep stuff in the backcountry too. So when our recent dry spell dropped the avy rose to green across most of the state, I jumped at the chance to go ski some bigger lines.

Looking like it might be back to meadow skipping pow again for now. No complaints, need some nice sticky spring storms to fill in the alpine a bit more. Then we can do more of this in a couple months!

Nice. I was researching a potential trip to CO last year and that Holy Cross Couloir was high on my list, although I recall there being a bit of a slog.

Read your blog post. When I climbed Holy Cross this summer I couldn't stop thinking about skiing the Cross. I vividly remember talking to my partner about what a nightmare that area would be to navigate during the winter at night. Thanks for making me realize that was true.

The facet wallowing on west aspects killed us.

The snowmobile is the worst in facets. They just sink. Fucking willows!

Willows are brutal... even on skis

Adrenalated, loved the Mt. Bucksin Rock GS and tool selection for the Cross descent.
Looking particularly bony for high altitude Colorado.
Keep getting after it for those of us who are now without snow and vertical but living vicariously through you.
