NEW QUAD CHAIRLIFT
Representing an investment of $4.5million, the new fixed grip quad chairlift will provide quick access to NZ's most legendary free skiing and riding terrain. The chairlift is being installed from the bottom of the existing double chairlift to an area known as Tim's Table (1958m) just short of the summit. It is 930 metres in length, with 12 towers and has a vertical elevation of 370 metres.
NEW TERRAIN & TRAILS
Treble Cone is the only known ski area in NZ to open new terrain in over 15 years. Vertical elevation drop has now increased to 705m. Visitors can now enjoy access to a further 45 hectares of new intermediate terrain in the saddle basin and quick access to an area that has reliable snow both early and late season. New groomed trails include Upper High Street (which leads in to High Street) and South Ridge (previously known as Boundary Ridge). The longest intermediate run has now extends over 4km long, starting from the top of the new quad chairlift and finishes at the base lodge & cafi.

Great to see new terrain opened up!

I don't get that map... is that a traverse at the bottom?

Dotted black line is a walk. The ski traverse is the solid line well above it. If you want good turns in the outer chutes... expect a bit of a walk. Treble Cone is an oddly laid out area. I am a much bigger fan of the hiking above the Remarkables (teleks, angulator, diangulator, etc). Those little hikes are very underrated.

That chair makes the access to the "Boundary Chutes" almost too easy. Before you had to make a monster traverse from the t-bar, and be the only guy in there, now you just ski down. The terrain in there is pretty rad, but you need a good amount of snow to fill it in.

Does that walk out bring you to the road, like in Remarks?
Remarks has a bus that brings you back.
Wondering if TC is going to do the same.
If there is a walk involved, that will deter a good number of people.
But not me.

Nope. Its a whole different drainage/valley than where the road goes up. Its a walk for sure.

My crazy Hungarian flatmate had to make that walk up the road. He decided to go OB by himself, got stuck in a gully with deep snow and no way out, and had to wait for someone else to get stuck in there who was smart enough to have a shovel with him.
We had no idea where he was at the end of the day, and decided to take the bus down and hope he would be waiting for us at the bottom. We get about half a mile out of the parking lot and find him trudging back up to the resort. The bus driver was cool and picked him up. Crazy bastard.
Oh, and it was the best day of skiing I have ever had in my life, september '03.
