ive got a kodak... about 3 years old... the damn thing won't work above 11,000

11,000 isn't really very high. I'm not sure if high altitudes can have any effect on electronics except perhaps memory cards. Are you sure it's not just the battery having issues with the cold? Try keeping the battery in an inside pocket until you're ready to use it.Quote:

Most stuff shouldn't have a problem... I've taken my digital camera above 19,000 feet without any issues. I kept it in a pocket next to my body, though, so it stayed warm.
On the same hike, a girl's sony camera stopped working. No reason other than the altitude that we can think of as it had been subject to cold and humidity issues before.
The air is thinner at altitude. Give the carburetor adjustment screw 1/2 a turn out to let it breath better.
