MANNY'S MANNY In the same issue of GQ, there's a hilarious piece about Manny Ramirez, in which teammates, coaches, writers, and friends share their favorite stories about the inscrutable Sox slugger. Brian Graham, one of Manny's minor-league managers, talks of No. 24's penchant for pinching people's duds. "If he liked your shirt or your shoes, he would wear them home that night." That's confirmed by former Indians manager Mike Hargrove, who says Manny was particularly fond of pitcher Jose Mesa's chartreuse long johns. Jeff Manto, a teammate of Manny's in Cleveland, said Ramirez once took a broken bat to the plate -- and hit a home run. Asked why he'd used a busted bat, Manny said: "I just like that bat." Explaining his various hairstyles -- described by ex-teammate Wayne Kirby as "one minute Don King, one minute `Kojak' " -- Manny says, "I like to change looks. Like Lenny Kravitz."
