Replacement for a 2007 Seth (Alpental-PNW)

I lost one of my 179 Seths on a powder day and had pretty much trashed them anyhow as my daily driver skis so I need your advise. I have 189 Pontoons as my powder ski & can arc them on the groomers & ski bumps fine but they suffer when it is icy. I also have this years BD Justice 185 that I use for touring & that ski is better on the ice but it is so they are not stable when I mach through chop. My Seths were right in between & I was really happy with them. I heard last years Fujas were the same ski. I ski fast & aggressive in all conditions & like quick skis that are stable as I ski a lot of trees & tight shoots. My friends that ski with me recommend the Dynastar XXl Pro Rider but I had a buddy that demoed them & told me they were not a good Alpental ski ( steep & tight trees & heavy snow). I am 6 ft 210 For what it is worth I like shorter skis for Alpental. If I lived in Whistler it may be different.
My question is do I get the Fujas & be done with it or is there another ski that is better that is similar that I am not aware of. I would prefer to pick up a year old model versus new as I don't need the latest greatest ski out. Also the Seths were twin tip & I don't really care about that feature.

2007 Seth = 2009 Fujas
2009 Fujas = 2010 Fujas (with the addition of Rocker)
2010 Seth = 2011 Fujas

With the heavy snow we get in the PNW, you would def benefit from a rockered ski. The current model Fujas would be a great choice.

It is very diff from the Dynastars your friends like. The XXL is fantastic, but it's a stiff, flat tailed, old man ski with a hybrid sandwich/cap construction. (ie: I sell it to ski patrollers all the time.)

The Fujas is a twin, with rocker, sandwich construction, and similar dimensions ot your old Seths. It's medium flexing, and forgiving if you straightline the bumps. (ie: It's sold mainly to high school kids who can't afford the Seths that would really impress their friends.)

NOTE: K2 is very strange with lengths. They don't count the length of the tail in the Fujas' dimensions, so a 179 Fujas actually = approx 185cm

Are the newr Fujas cheaper or inferior to the Seths as you imply? I don't ski switch too often so I don't care about the twin tips. I just really liked how that (07 Vicious) ski performed versatility wise

I'm no expert but it looks like the fujas are different than the seths. I did a little looking around since i have some 08 seths that get a lot of use and I worry about what to replace them with once they inevitably die. Anyway the thing that stood out most is they claim a bidirectional sidecut on the fujas for better switch turning but the seths definitely had a directional progressive sidecut going on. Like I said I'm no expert and I haven't ski'd the fujas but they don't sound as similar as you make them out to be. has anyone actually ski'd both and confirm/deny how similar they are?

I was leaning towards 09/10 Fujas till your post gave me pause. I just wanted the super versatility in all conditions that the Seth Vicious gave me

The turn radius on the Lhasa is a lot longer then the Fujas or the Seths & My BD Justice is really close in size. I am sure it is a great ski though.

So you are saying the 2007 =2010 Fujas only rockered. I looked at the specs & the 2007 Seth was 130/98/118 21m radius turn & the 2010 Fujas 125/95/120. Close but not the same. Have you skied both?

I'd say look at this year's Rossi S3, unless you're completely opposed to buying a current model.

what about this years obsethed? or if you really want a great ski tree that can still kill it in crud/ groomers the Armada JJ.

Yes. Skied the Seths from 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Every year they seem to get a bit wider, and a bit more rocker. They continue to feature: soft flex, forgiving tip, and obnoxious graphix.

I've skied the Fujas from 2009 and 2010. Very similar, but this year is prettier, and has a tad more rocker, I think.

They're both similar to your old Seths. I think this year is better because it seems to have more rocker. If you can find a good deal, you'll be happy either way.

Thanks I think I will go with this years Fujas. I can't seem to find anything below $569 online. I will wait until March & try to find a deal then as it is not really snowing anyway. I will be down in Utah second week of March & would prefer to take my Pontoons but the way this winter is going I would be safer with the Fujas. Thanks for the tips
