TR: First Day in the Chugach - Turnagain Pass
After a long day of travel from Vail to Girdwood, AK to visit my brother, I woke up today to blue skies and cold temperatures. The weather station was reporting a temp of -15 degrees when we got up, so we weren't sure what we were going to do.
Despite the cold and wind, we drove up Turnagain pass to sightsee and check out the conditions. Luckily, the wind had died down and we just started hiking. 2 hours later I was standing on top of a ridge looking down the steepest face I have ever been on.
I can't think of a better way to have spent my first day in the Chugach.
