Ass smack = juvi?

A co-worker just came back from his son's school after being called in because his son smacked a girl on the ass. The kid was suspended from school, the parents are threatening pressing charges, and the kid was ticketed by the police and will be brought up on misdemeanor charges in juvenile court.

Now, let me just say that as the father of a daughter, I'd just as soon strangle any kid that put a hand on my daughter. However, as an ex-teenage boy, I realize that if I'd been brought up on charges for every ass I grabbed in junior high and high school, I'd be serving a life sentence.

I'm not saying this behavior is okay, but isn't court a bit much?

That probably won't get too far in the justice system, but it will probably prevent him from violating the personal space of his fellow students for a while.

How old?

The son needs to call and try and make amends asap. Don't know if trying to speak with the girl, or the father/mother would be better, but some groveling contrition is definitely in order... (Will make dropping the case easier for the other side when they hit a road block.)

I also want to add the following. We weren't HS sweethearts, but I went to HS w/ my wife. I mentioned this incident to her, and she thought it was pretty ridiculous. She then reminded me of the time I grabbed her ass in Biology, and she proceeded to beat the shit out of me.

When I was in kindergarten I tried to kiss all the girls on the bus one day on the way to school. I was put in time out for getting out of my seat on the bus and I didn't get to play with the wooden blocks. I was so sad and learned my lesson. I wonder if the school would have reacted the same if it had been reveresed, with the girl giving a good solid ass-slap to the dude.

Being brought up on charges, maybe a bit much, but I am sure there are a lot of circumstances we don't know about.

There was a similar case recently in a small town outside Portland. Middle School boys were running down the hall slapping girls' butts. There was also a tit-poke if I remember correctly, as much as is possible with 12 year old girls. This had been part of an ongoing ritual, and both boys and girls butts were slapped by the opposite sex. Well, the parents of one girl got wound up and the two boys were hauled up on felony sex abuse charges. The victims ('cept one) didn't want to press charges but by then the wheels of justice were on a roll and bound for glory. The boys ultimately got off but they went thru way more hell than they deserved because of one parent without a sense of perspective and an overzealous DA. Strongly recommend (as the father of girls) that the kid and his parents meet ASAP with the girl/her parents and apologize. It sounds like it's the right thing to do, will happen eventually anyway, and is prolly less painful to do early before somebody goes all PC and shit gets out of hand.

And Dads, take a note from Philippe - teach your daughters to knee miscreants in the balls. Nothing empowered my 15YO so much as watching a Senior douchebag drop to his knees and puke after she forcefully executed such maneuver when he "invaded her personal space". And we never got a call from the school or the police...

Thanks, great reminder!!! My girls are 17 and 15... Think they'd stand for me trying to teach them this now? I think our neck of the woods is about as safe as it gets, but idiot pervert boys are everywhere... This place proves it!

The US "justice" system is anything but just.

Cases like this destroy kids lives before they can even get started. We try juveiles as adults. We have the highest rate of incarceration for any country in the WORLD. And then we ask questions like you just did but do nothing to solve the problem.

Too much fuucking bad TV and population which has been whipped into a violent, frothing at the mouth frenzy, all demanding anyone they perceive as having digressed even a little to be "locked up and throw away the key and gang raped while in prison."
