It took some time to decide if I wanted to get the Canon 70-200 IS 2.8L or the Canon 100-400 IS 4.5-5.6L. I finally chose the 100-400 to put on my crop 40D.

I made the same choice, 100-400 on a 20D (replacing a 70-300). I'm loving it. Wingshooting is a bit tough, but static-pose or walking wildlife is great. Using the lens with the body's AF modes took some getting used to. The color, acutance, and pop are all first-rate. Canon's done a good job selling me on L glass.
You're correct. No low light shooting with this one. It is a bit slow without light (lots of light), that is the only drawback, besides for the fact it is a monster of a lens sizewise.Quote:
