It took some time to decide if I wanted to get the Canon 70-200 IS 2.8L or the Canon 100-400 IS 4.5-5.6L. I finally chose the 100-400 to put on my crop 40D.
Here are a couple of images from the weekend.

Oooo - ducky!
Nice lens.
Good stuff man. Looks really sharp. Would you mind posting a 100% crop of the eye/beak area of #1?
nice! How about a pic of the 40D with the lens on it?![]()
What flash are you using?
Why are you (or would anyone) shoot sRAW?

The obligatory duck shot eh?
I assume you won't be shooting much indoor action stuff?
Very nice.

I made the same choice, 100-400 on a 20D (replacing a 70-300). I'm loving it. Wingshooting is a bit tough, but static-pose or walking wildlife is great. Using the lens with the body's AF modes took some getting used to. The color, acutance, and pop are all first-rate. Canon's done a good job selling me on L glass.
Now, what does this combo look like(seconded)?
Nice pictures, sounds like a fun lens. It's really sharp, ducks up close are scary as shit haha. (look at those eyes..!)
here's what it looks like with a 2xer @ 400mm- too grainy and weird.
