    Photo forum?

Any collective interest to make one here?

Haven't seen much in the way of tips to improve SKI photography specifically (briefly browsed dpreview), and I think there's a damn fine collection of photogs here, so this would be an appropriate setting to talk about pictures.

    Can it be done, ONS?

I'm not sure we need yet another forum

    HOWEVER

Ski photography is a fairly specialized type of sports photography and there is really no resource on the internet that I've ever found that has much on the topic (except search function here).

Other extremely specialized photographic specialties have their pages. For example, SCUBABoard has a forum for underwater photography, a highly specialized type of photography.

No problem. I believe hetrosexuals still out number gays... so long as that holds, the common guy(s) will not be gay.

Yeah, webguy, uploading 10 at a time would be ... Never use this upload cuz you gotta do it one at a time. Or to my knowledge, that is the case...

Rednecks don't get all emotional and weepy when they splatter a couple of ducks.

Thus the need for a photog forum... Manual or auto-focus? Pre-focus?

I have no need for your bandwidth but a photo forum would be dope. There's an incredible wealth of knowledge amongst the members of this board and having a more focused location for that seems like a good thing to me.

Sailing photography is extremely specialized yet it does not have its own forums.

Once you've seen one photo of a guy at the pointy end calling the line swearng his fucking ass off, you've seen them all.

But nobody has quite mastered catching us about to be completely submerged with that "sonofabitch" look our faces.

Camera courage has a pretty cool group (Ridemonkey posters mostly) and my buddy runs it. There's not a huge ski photography contingent, but lots of good bike photogs.

I just checked out Camera Courage and it is a very cool site. I do think, however; that there are enough good photogs here to support the forum.

    Maybe even a video/photo forum.

The standard objections around here seem to be (1) standard resistance to any change (2) a fondness for the chaos of the main forum (3) a fear that the main forum TR stoke would be diluted.

The photo/video stuff tends to be spread out between Tech Talk and the Main Forum. It's not too hard to find the stuff now, so I don't see much advantage from that perspective. However, I do think it would encourage more conversation on the topic, which would be a good thing. As indicated above, there is a lot of photo/vid knowledge lurking on the board and it would be great to extrude as much of it as possible.

For my part, I do a quick scan on the Main Forum for any threads that look interesting, the go to the Padded Room then glance at the Surf Forum. I check Tech Talk and Gear Swap when I'm gear whoring. Other than that, I rarely look elsewhere on the board.

    I would check a video/photo forum regularly.
