One chapter ends, another begins (nsr)

So after what seems like a long struggle of gaining certifications, testing, interviewing, worrying etc., I've been offered a full-time firefighter job with 2 separate cities. Today I made the decision, shook hands with the chief and walked out with a stack of papers to fill out and read. Stoked. Perfect timing, I get laid off from patrol on apr.10th, and start my first shift on apr.11th.

And since I got in a full year on pro-patrol, the chances are very good that I'll be able to part-time it next year.

K- That's awesome, congrats! I was a firefighter for three years before getting into the weather biz, and they were some of my favorite years ever. It's a great job, and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. I mean, ever see Backdraft? That's just what it's like, day in, day out...

Thanks for the props guys, i'm pretty excited about it. I'll be working for Ogden, the busiest department (calls per FF) in the state. Trial by fire (heh).

In a strange twist, it was actually ski patrol that helped me get the job. A few of the weekend volis are Ogden city medics and I called on them to tell me what the chief wanted to hear in the interview. It worked, I was the second interview out of 10 and he offered me the job on the spot.

AWESOME!!! Way to go. On your days off, we expect many LCC visits (maybe even a pass???). And Biking season, forget about it. Deer Valley pass, Brian Head pass, Moab local status...

And…..20 year necro bump, announced my retirement yesterday. The TGR timeline is crazy and most of the posters in this thread are long gone from here, but luckily I’m still in touch with about half of them, and I miss the rest of them.
