Big hug, buzz.
Big hug, buzz.
Just discussed end of life care with the Nephrologist. I say goodbye tomorrow at the hospital after my last visit before driving home Friday morning. It’s not fair seeing my parents go through this.
Oh man... Sorry Buzz
She passed away last night.
Vibes man. It sucks now but it was for the best.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Sorry Buzz, none of us get out of here alive and in the case of a severe illness, the end can be a kindness. Take care
I know it’s for the best but it still fucking hurts.
Damn... Sorry Buzz![]()

So sorry to hear Buzzworthy. Condolences.
My cousin took our demented grandmother to a lawyer and had her sign a simple deed. Hornets nest has been kicked, I hope Grandma comes out alright. I think she was glad for the company that day.
How can Grandma sign anything as she does not have the capacity to do so with dementia?

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
Thanks to everyone's kind words here.
Losing my only sibling has taken a toll.
But with time things are getting better slowly.
Feels like there is a void though and I don't know if that feeling is every going to change.

It can take time for sure. Sadly my sister had not spoken to me in about 40 years prior to her untimely demise (sepsis from surgery). I was sad helping my mom go through her apartment and donating everything, but a year later, I was good. The occasional regretful memory, but that is life.
You'll be good in time. Just stay busy is my mantra these days.

... and lots of fur kid contact.
Anyone got reccos for phones for the hearing impaired and cognitively impaired?
Both parents are hard of hearing yet refuse to wear their hearing aids. And they can't handle anything that requires multiple steps.
Years ago we got them cordless phones so they wouldn't have to run to a landline but batteries were dying and they have been having trouble with the button functions that they could previously handle (have to type in phone # and then hit talk, have to hit End to finish a call, and volume settings that don't save).
We have since tried phones with big buttons, phones with one-button call for frequent contacts, and amplified phones. All have been problematic for one reason or another - phone stopped working, volume settings wouldn't save, sound quality was unusable, etc etc.
Finding a phone that saves the volume settings seems to be a unicorn for some reason. Do people who design these phones not test them out?
It shouldn't be this difficult. Just want a quality phone that is easy to use and that saves the settings between calls. Parents can type a phone number in fine but can't deal with things like having to hit talk to get the call to initiate or hit End to hang up.
More of a rant than a question
well batteries cost money so they don't change hearing aid batteries anyway even if their net worth is a million $
my mothers phone was configured to NOT make or accept long distance phone calls cuz back in the 60's it was 3$ a minute to call Nan in england
we never worried about scammers taking advantage of mom becuz she could just barely run a phone let alone a computer or drive a car BUT man could she cook
ironicaly for the phone company to restrict the phone means they charged more for the line never mind LD is i almost free now days
they only remeber the old days
