just noticed this.. every team that had a bye in the cfp lost
every team that won in the first round was the home team
maybe there's a benefit to playing a lesser ranked team at home to take some momentum to a neutral site to a team that might be a lil cold/rusty?
I like the 12 team expansion but there are still some flaws in the whole process

I don't see how Texas stops Ohio... Hoping for a classic big 10 championship game but I'm really not sure how ND and the lions will match up against each other

I agree that the bye makes it harder but let’s be honest…I think it was more about the seeding.

I wanted BSU to win but Penn St was a deeper team. I think PSU wins that match up 2 of every three games, maybe 3 out of 4.

Same same with Oregon. No team (maybe Michigan????) is beating this OSU team twice in a row. And believe me, I wanted Oregon to win.

TX beats ASU at least 2/3 games as well. I know it was close but I have to think that was an outlier.

And without Beck, I think ND beats Georgia 3 out of every 4 games. ND looks damned good.

So yeah, the byes suck for sure but I’m not convinced it would have been that different.

I would have liked to see:

BSU vs ASU (fucking epic RB battle)
    UO vs TX
    ND vs OSU
    UGA vs PSU

Those would be four really fun games.

I like this better than a committee saying “you are the best team from the SEC and we’ll get fired if we don’t pick you other team, you two play for the title”.

Wait, was that supposed to be sarcasm or did you really mean that?

I don’t like the current transfer portal—I’d love to see a cap in it where players can only transfer once during their scholastic career. I think NIL is currently flawed and obviously benefits wealthy programs which is contrary to the spirit of college athletics. A salary cap or the like would be great. Yeah, the 12 team playoff is a bust in its current configuration.

    But…

The above have undoubtedly resulted in more parody across the Division 1 football landscape. When was the last time we had a season as wide open as this one, where there is no crystal clear presumptive leader, where schools like ASU or BSU actually play blue blood programs in BCS bowl games and play them well? Probably BSU in 2005? If you’re not a Bama/Georgia/tOSU/Michigan/ND fan, that shit was getting really old. And if you think many teams weren’t already paying kids under the table, you’re on the crack. Now the second and third string 3, 4 or 5 stars are incentivized to play somewhere else instead of waiting in line at one of the above teams. Do you think Skattebo, Gabriel, Hunter or even Jenty would be on the teams they are if they weren’t getting paid? I’d say no. They’d be in line at some blue blood team, maybe knowing they could get a little scrilla under the table when their time came. I’d even argue that a spectacular player like Jenty or Skattebo may not have had the fantastic opportunity to develop if they were in the shadows somewhere else and not getting a million snaps early in their college careers. Now they’re leading other teams to conference championships which in turn draws NEW 3-5 star recruits to those programs.

And now coaches like Diaz, Lanning, Prime and Dillingham are staying at “up and coming” programs because they have a fighting chance to recruit even though they don’t have a tradition of greasy boosters lining up HJs and Cadillacs for high school kids after first visit. Now any program can lineup HJs and Cadillacs!

I get that people hate change but this isn’t all bad. It’s been a really fun season for college football fans up until the botched playoffs. You know who’s not winning this year? Georgia, Bama, Clemson or Michigan. It’s not perfect by any stretch but I’ll take imperfect uncertainty over predictable repetition any day.

Would love to see the Irish and the Buckeyes in the final. Impressed with how the Irish came out in the 2nd half. Some good coaching.

I never thought I’d root for Notre Dame, but here we are.

That said, they’re about to walk into a prison shower wearing a tutu and perfume.

Highlight of that game has to be seeing the entire OSU sideline, starting with HC Ryan Day, pointing, with both hands to the end zone into which they want the DE to run, 85 yds downfield, when he scoops up a fumble from the TX QB. "Don't run into our endzone, run that way!"

    Actual play: https://youtu.be/IEcijvWqZlY?t=1096
View of the OSU sideline: https://youtu.be/IEcijvWqZlY?t=1165

Some reports say the DE was dazed and momentarily blanked out, so he gets some benefit of the doubt in this.

Also amazing is the OSU DE and longhorns QB were roommates at some point.

I think PSU is great. I think Texas has a better defense than ND. And while Leonard’s season has been admirable for sure, I don’t think NDs passing is going to be enough.

To be clear, I’m rooting for ND but I think OSU covers.

I’ve been an ND fan for longer than I care to remember. This D is the best I’ve ever seen. Period. The “Riley “ can’t pass narrative is what was said before IU, UGA and PSU and here we are. Go Irish and fuck Day and the Buckeyes.

Let's go ND. Family friend is their (best?) linebacker. He is pretty damn good, not sure of his stats compared to others- #34 Drayk Bowen.

Kid is a stud. Dual scholarship football and baseball. Strong like bull and a hard worker. Makes rooting for the Irish pretty easy, not that I would ever root for Ohio State.

What is the over under on ND coach Freeman going to the NFL? He seems like the perfect fit.
