I heard “hard powder” i.e. chalk over the weekend. Not that they were wrong, but it sounded funny with a texas accent.

When I was living on the east coast they kept saying "packed powder" and you'd show up to ski blue ice. Which is a little like saying you went rafting in "wet powder."

There was a lot of noisy powder around here the other day. Dumped snow in the morning, rain in the afternoon, then cold and clear night. From the lifts smooth sheets of snow with just a couple of tracks from the day before, attracting people who skidded down making plenty of noise but no tracks at all. People figured it out pretty quickly.

People mistakenly assume that “PP” when listed in conditions means packed powder. Actually it means Piss Poor.

stopped to take a short break at the bottom of a steep-ish pitch,
well off to the side of the run ....

I spy a wobbly boarder doing a heel-side scrape, coming right at me
I wave the boarder off, no change in vector.
boarder does a face-plant right in front of me.

I sez "turn and go around me"
response "I don't know how to turn"

I was the gaper last night for night laps. Forgot my socks. Had to ski clammy bare feet.

People staring at me in the lodge when both putting on and later taking off— “Who’s this psycho?”

I wanted to inform everyone that I had forgotten my socks, and barefoot wasn’t a performance preference but I decided to just roll with it.

Been there. Came from my boat during the spring. Ended up swinging by the shop in the village. Couldn't do the sockless thing.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

There are real risks to getting changed in the parking lot.

Bonus points for honesty. I remember staring over the pitch of my first blue square trail being terrified.
If you don’t hang it out and go for it you won’t progress but a little research on how to turn would help.
