Russia is not going to use a nuke because China told Putin NO. Putin is Xi's junior partner. So from a game theory standpoint Putin's nuclear threats means:

- Russia is weaker than expected
- Ukraine is stronger than expected
- America / Europe are unreliable allies
- Therefore all nations need to acquire nukes of their own

The most important takeaway is falling for Russian nuclear bluffs will make the world a much more dangerous place in the future

That's a reasonable stance. The underlying issue is, whether it's support for Russia or wherever, most of it stems from belief that America is the biggest evil in the world today. It's not really about Ukraine or Russia. It's a belief that the world would be a better place if we left the likes of Putin or Xi or the Ayatollahs alone. For all our faults, and there are many, a democratic West will always be the much lesser evil versus totalitarian regimes. It was true during the Cold War and it's still true today
