BTW why haven’t we discussed Luigi’s manifesto?

CNN cited a law enforcement source as saying that the author of the documents apologized for "any strife or trauma," but added, "These parasites had it coming."

The New York Times also cited a senior law enforcement official who said the manifesto found on Mangione mentioned UnitedHealthcare by name and noted the size of the company and how much money it makes. The official added that the document condemned the healthcare industry for prioritizing profits over care.

apparently it is a measly 262 words. underwhelming to say the least, but i'm willing to give him a bit of a pass as we, the american people, don't really need someone to enumerate for us the evils of the healthcare industry. seems we have a pretty solid collective understanding.

lol, what does this mean then? : “the services you chose to receive in the U.S. would not have been the recommended treatment for your cancer diagnosis” and that explains why the surgeon told her, "she was not a candidate for surgery."

here to ask how two people who oppose the death penalty are totally ok with murder? Anxiously awaiting the tribalist ex-post rationalization....

In the meantime, the murderer carefully lists a number of problems with *doctors* and by his account *allopathic medicine* followed by UHCs mostly (though not entirely) reasonable policies on cases where multiple specialists and treatment modalities weren't producing any effect-— or even any reliable diagnosis! — and then he kills the asshole insurer but the not the doctors he blames for causing the problem

It's a perfect microcosm of the very particular way most people are stupid about health care, even ivy league podcast bros.

Oh yeah, and he also doesn't understand the second amendment at all

Fuck those guys, as I totally support the death penalty and as a matter of fact it annoys the fuck out of me that it doesn't happen as soon as the person is found guilty and sentenced. Que the whining about the few innocent people that were shafted by the police. And in those cases the law enforcement and prosecutors involved get torched also

Nice picture. Here's how it is in TGR-land: you don't seem amenable to learning from anyone who contradicts you. Having done so, I'm out. If you want to learn what the word "candidate" means in that context you'll have to be interested and put in the work. Arguing with you does not do that.

I'm always interested in learning. Always. Which begs the question, did you even read the article? How is that she wasn't a "candidate" in Canada but was in America? Zero snark. I really want to know? Like, how did she go from being offered assisted suicide in Canada to being successfully treated in America? It seems like these are reasonable questions given the topic of this thread and even your own experience with cancer.

Really? It’s okay that a few innocent people die because of your impatience and revenge lust?

It’s been explained to you that a surgeon told her she wasn’t a candidate for surgery and that the treatment is available in Canada under their universal healthcare. She went to the US and found a physician that was happy to take her money.

Among all this back and forth about personal experience with health care and insurance are we just going to overlook how this iGen kid was so anti-corporate and anti-capitalist but was found while eating in a McDonald's?

Assassinating someone over abstract ideas is not the act of an ordered mind. Something people should keep in mind when trying to map the horrible act of someone going through a mental health crisis onto a political cause

No, that's wrong. It's true that people keep saying that. But that's not what she was told by Canadian authorities. The disconnect here is with the TGR collective who want to believe something that according to article just isn't true

How about wrongfully denying care to juice profits? Ordered mind or not?
