My understanding is not this year. I'm loving mine, and have put a couple buddies on to them as well. Both are hoping MO does another run of them in the future.
The older I get, the faster I was.

    Punch it, Chewie.

    Damn he seems cool.

So I have a pair of FL105s on order. I'm thinking these might be a better fit for me...

Always happy to make a substitution for folks that want to shift gears on skis. Never a problem.

Marshal, have you ever thought about doing a in betweener weight core? If there was a 1900-2000g R110 that would make an amazing travel ski with a shift type binding on.

Currently a v-werx katana w/shift fills this spot as I know I can take it anywhere and ski any condition on it and have a blast, all the while be light enough to drag uphill.

    For sure

this is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. But the VWK is kind of an outlier IMO as a modestly light but super directional chargy shape. Most skis in this class (construction wise) are much much more rockered and progressive. I have a good idea about the construction to nail the snowfeel, but wonder about the R105 shape (ie more like a VWK) vs the R110 shape. Curious for your reaction.

Fucking hype is building for this season!!!!

Marshal, I have been preaching the gospel to all the skiers I know. Do you have any stickers or hats or anything? The dudes who do my mounts are always very intrigued by the HL skis I have brought into their shop. Real ripper kids.

@Lord @Island - Like most things, perhaps the correct answer is “both”

@WRG - thanks for Arild, I have a roll of stickers now actually. Now that my pallet of ski boxes arrived (and the skis themselves should be here in 12 days or so), I intend to include a few with preseason orders.

I may or may not have pushed a bro into ordering a 187 R120st. His reply- That’s so big. And I’m getting old.

My reply— Nah. You’re bigger than me (172cm/72kg) and all my skis are 186-7. You’re a second-longest-ski skier. Whatever brand you buy, you should be on the second-longest ski.

He grew up skiing in Calgary. Was a racing kid and ski instructor. He used to ski the forests with me in JP on 190 Explosives and 18x K2 Waybacks. Homie is thick and can stand on a ski. But he’s scared of HL. He’s out of shape and 46.

He’ll get his first impression skiing in Canada over the holidays when he visits family.

Type your comments below about how he’s made the right decision.

    Cheers.

dood. Firstly, easy to combine your ships if needed/wanted.

but I’m in the “HL are damp and smooth and responsive but not particularly demanding physically” opinion. Especially the 110/120 shapes, I think they are hero skis. Go like hell with supreme confidence, but not going to beat you up.

They do want to ski down the Mountain, but the FL way more so. But they want you to ski down the mountain because it’s super fun and the ski comes alive when you give em the room to move.

if he’s worried about manuverability, I’d say go for the FR. Less engaged than the R, but crazy easy to manipulate and carry speed with. It’s like Tony hawk pro skater on snow.

Or have him go for the HB122, which is full next-level easy to make fast turns in soft snow. They literally defy the laws of physics. Like instead of skateboarding, they are the rocket boosted hover boards in back to the future 2. Of course there is trade offs to the ultra surfy rocker and fat tips. But as a pow ski. Holy hell.

just one guys (obviously biased) opinion

And now I want to try the only ski in the HL lineup I’d written off (HB122). Damn you, Marshall - in the nicest possible way, of course.

He's worried about the holiday delivery as he's flying out of Canada during that period as well. He's only got a short window to be there. So, I pushed the R120st on him based on his past experience with traditional, flat tails that he always had the ability to turn in deep forests to my bewilderment. I'm of the belief that the R will blow his mind in maneuverability while simultaneously being an ideal Canadian Resort Pow Ski. Pluffenmemister has confirmed this on several occasions.

For a minute I even considered changing my R110 order to R120st based on people's voices in here... to essentially replace my Ren. But being as my Ren is not broken, that idea seems fairly blasphemous. But I have a hunch the R120st can arc 90% as well as the R110 in lesser deep snow... the role of my future R110.

It’s the weirdest ski. It’s also one of the most shocking and hard to explain. So much fun to bounce around in pow on those things. Spent 9-10 days on the demo pair. I know MO damn near DD’d them last year.

As I own both the fl113 and r120 I’ll add a couple thoughts. Like Marshal said, the fl113 wants to go fast…straight down the mountain. The r120 wants to ski fast too but it is more forgiving(the core is not as thick) and is a more enjoyable/playful making turns. I see a place for both skis in the quiver: Fl113 for skiing alone(they are that fast), they are soft chop destroyers and the r120 for powder days and storm skiing. I have a knee that’s had 5 surgeries and I definitely can ski longer/doesn’t beat me up as much on the r120.
Gaijin, I think your friend made the right choice
