Thanks for the input, as well as those who opined and I'm not quoting here.

We will be in the New Haven area. I was surprised by how cheap a season gear rental is for young kids at Mohawk, which makes the logistical and cost hurdle of buying or moving gear to CT easier.

I’ll echo everything previously stated about Mohawk. It’s a cool little feeder hill that is priced well and maintained beyond expectations.

If you can spend *a bit* more time in the car, Berkshire East may be a more interesting hill to ski at. I’ve only been a couple of times and cant comment on the kid programs, but it has more vert, steeper steeps, snow, and is located in a nice corner of MA.

being in the car with kids does suck so who knows if that works for you. new haven is a big annoying traffic jam but since you’ll be there maybe it won’t affect you as much as traveling from nyc would have.

Yeah, your kids will love Mohawk. Don’t forget the Indy add on. That will get you a couple days each at Catamount, Berkshire and Magic- all tons of fun and still day tripable from New Haven. If you really want to maximize, you can schedule some weekends at Jay (long drive) and Greek, which both have hotels and indoor water parks for the kiddos.

speaking of Jay, i still have a 4-pack i am looking to sell- 4 rfid cards, walk straight to the lifts, good for this season that i am likely not going to use, selling for less than i paid for them. PM for dets, no joke.

Having grown up in CT i cannot say I ever went to mohawk but what someone else said, Berkshire east is a good one. Its a very comparable drive, there are no highways to get to mohawk as its in the sticks with people from CT driving in snow, f that.

Mohawk is where i started, and where i'll end (physical issues). Mohawk did a great job this season making snow and grooming, but they decided to shut it down as of this monday. No complaints from me, decision made sense. Same-ish general area: agree that Berkshire East is great, Catamount too.

Some shots from Washington this morning. Just did a sherb lap because we didn’t love the avy forecast and thin cover, but weather ended up gorgeous. Sherb is thin at the bottom but overall in decent shape considering the shit winter.

    Good stuff, waxloaf.

CharlesJ gave me these “alpine” poles in the Fall so I figured I should try out riding some laps with training heels (not usually my thing and I’m still not convinced). Smuggs skied well overall, particularly after the clouds lifted in the afternoon.

You have to admire his commitment though. Even when he locks down the heel, he does it with tele bindings.

Hopped back on my rat traps today for a surprise 2-3 of cream cheese at stowe. All front four open and skiing top to bottom. Even got a bonus variation that is hard to hit with enough snow on it to make turns.
    Skiing is fun!
