Not with tech bindings. Tele is not my A game, and this kind of skiing is almost always on sketchy conditions, so my Voiles have tech bindings on them. I haven’t used my Guides/Switchbacks in years now.

You don’t have to make telemark turns with freeheel bindings. Alpine turns are easily executed even with 3 pins.

Yeah I’m using altais too when I’m poking around. They’re sweet. Is it a lot easier for cable 3 pin bindings? Mine are just the toes and do not inspire confidence when doing alpine turns.

Smoked some crack and made a snowmobile plow for $48 from the scrap yard and a $60 Harbor Freight winch. Test run in wet heavy snow seems bomber. Geared the sled way down and clutch engagement. Sled doesn’t struggle at all. Plan is to harvest low elevation snow on some of the road approaches that melt out early. Plan to only plow going downhill.

I think the cable does help provide some extra torsional rigidity, i.e. side-to-side support. I skied tele for years and toward the end I made mostly alpine turns. I was always on cable bindings. Most people watching me ski could not tell I wasn't on regular alpine gear.

I’ll need to find some of those. Seems like a no brainer since I’m already in hard shell boots.

That video has the most stem christies per minute that I've ever seen!

(Can you technically do a stem christie with a free heel? I'm not sure but he sure does look like it!)

I like something like this with the heel lever tensioner. Some cable bindings have the side lever but I think it's harder to get leverage on that, and I like the cables with a lot of tension. The heel lever just straps the boot into the cable more securely IMO.

The main thing in my mind is you don't want a binding that elevates your boot too far off the ski. Assuming you're on duckbill 75 mm boots, you want that duckbill flat on the ski as much as possible.

With the early season discount I'll guess $2,350. I don't think they'll jack it up too much after a low snow year. If you use your rewards you'll get $100-200 off, which basically covers the resort tax.

Spent the weekend at the Ghee and Jackson… travelled back to BoZone yesterday. I picked up another pair of rock skis from Second Wind, BB reporting 5” on top of 5” yesterday, Powder Poncho prepared to pillage piles of puff placed over pebbles. Rock on!

Helluva fun day of tram skiing, no mags spotted. They opened the gullies and it was deep in there (closed yesterday). Sure wish they would open the Snowfield! Here's one for Bunion.

Single, I've been in a completely opposite phase to you - I ran to Tahoe for the big one, stopped a couple days at Jackson on the way back, and passed your truck heading south on my way back north.

Had a great day hanging with Swimmy today, couple hikes, some legit winter conditions - finally! Hoping a couple shots are worthy of display.

I think I'm going to do an early morning run to Showdown tomorrow, Powder Wednesday should be awesome!

That was a fun day at BB, tried to beat swimmy to pole position but I had to gas up and game over.

I did see two casualties getting rides down in the red sleds.

Hoping for more snow this week, keep it coming Ullr.
