    Ask the experts

Probably due to the massive issues Signa is having with their sports division. I think they are officially entering the Euro version of bankrupcy. Cutting US shipping is probably saving them some money.

Yep no CRC anymore. I’ll probably get the Dakine once I can stomach the price

I've got a Dakine bike bag. Just barely fits my size small 27.5 bike. To fit my medium 29er I think I'd have to remove the fork from the frame.

Bought the bag back in 2017 so sizing might have changed since, but definitely something to look into before purchasing.

It's a nice bag aside from that. Pretty good protection and light enough that bag plus bike should come in under 50lbs.

Our Dakines fit my size medium 29er Enduro bike no problem, I think it would fit at least a large easily. I think I got first one in 2019? Agree it's relatively light, protects well, and handles well.

I ripped the rubber hood (or cowl?) on my Shimano Claris shifter / brake bracket assembly. Having a hard time finding a replacement. Lots of hoods for 105, Tiagra etc. Any chance there's any cross compatibility with these?

Same hood as used on Sora.

    Edit:

Should have asked generation. Can you see the part number on the shifter? Should be something like ST-R2000

See above. You should double check the number on your shifter to make sure it’s the right generation.

The "Claris" is a ST- R200 the part number you want is Y05T98010, Exploded view
This part is also shared with:
    ST-R3030 and ST-R3000 "Sora"
    ST-R2030 and ST-R2000 "Claris"

I’m hesitant to try correcting Dee, but I believe there’s also an ST-2400/ST-2403 Claris, which uses a different hood. Part# Y6VX98100

You're right the "Claris" 2400 series is the newer version with Super SLR that is good for cable actuated disc brakes as well as rim brakes.
This is a different hood part number that you mentioned. Part# Y6VX98100
Part is also compatible with, and can be listed as:
    ST-3500 "Sora"
    ST-4500 "Tiagra"

The way to ID the differences is
ST-2000 has no badge on top of the lever (previous post part #):

2019 roval control wheelset with xd driver off an epic. Want to convert to microspline. Formula hubs branded specialized. Do any of you know if a microspline driver exists for this. Can’t seem to get through to anyone at specialized that knows, and the formula customer response looks Chinese.

No idea but maybe consider joining the "what have you bought/upgraded" thread with some new wheels?

what are my options here, mainly cost effective solutions appreciated, or if you have an old 40mm+, HG hub 6 bolt rear wheel lmk

i have a old backcountry 360 from i9, with a torch hub , 32 hole, ERD is 559. the rim is just about shot, tho gave it a good smack and will attempt to seat again, but essentially tire won't seat right at a fat bulge. anywY

there are some decent deals on RF 45 ID rims, ERD 562, so then i'd need new spokes as well , do i need i9 spokes because of the torch hub, or if im ditching the i9 rim can i use regular spokes? the hubs feel
    good, probably worth saving yes?

maybe its just easier to buy some cheap rear wheel already made hmmmm

My TMI non sarcastic response. The wheels have sat unridden. They look new. They are for a NICA bike for my daughter, and are less than half my current hook up for the same new. Although the same new have warranty and DT Swiss, which is better. I am struggling with spending this much on a kids bike, even though she is having success. I had guilty feelings after lifting some of her peers bikes and realizing they were much lighter, but also struggling with spending more on a wheelset than my first mountain bike.

That should be a Formula FH-510B hub.
The correct HG free hub is part# S192100005

I think this is the specialized part # for the Microsoline version is:
    S212100003

I'm not 100% certain about the Microspline version, but I'm pretty sure.
But that hub should be the FH-510B, and the correct HG freehub for that hub is the # S192100005. It lists the 2019 Epic as a compatible bike for that freehub part #.
If I cross reference that HG freehub to a micro spine version it comes up with a part# of S212100003.
It does not list the Epic as a compatible bike, but only because it did not have a 12s Shimano cassette as original spec. But a few bikes on the compatibility list for the micro spline frehub part # show up on both the HG and MS part numbers, leading me to believe that the they are both compatible on the Formula FH-510B hub.

I just want to throw out a thank you to Dee for regularly dropping in here with a level of technical detail and knowledge that would be very difficult to replicate for most of us. It's great to have that kind of deep expertise on our side!

    I’m intrigued.
If you don’t get a better answer, I’d say pull a spoke and compare the spoke hole size to a non-i9 rim. Drop a steel straight pull in there and see if it seats differently. Seems like it should work fine, but I’d also worry about the ERD being a little different if maybe it sits in there different.

ended up just going back to I9, they had some replacement rims lying around on the cheap, but holy fuck new spokes are expensive

With the current sales on suspension, I am really wanting to do a coil conversion on a Fox38/ZEB using a smashpot, an Avalanche hybrid coil/air, or PUSH. Which combo is going to be the easiest to install and service at home plus being the cheapest to maintain long term?
Setting it and forgetting until a service would be ideal.

    Thanks and Happy New Year
