Anyone have an assessment of Targhee recently, as in worthwhile to use a half price pass this week? I’ve never skied there so the sunny weather and the ability to poke around is good I guess. I’d be stoked on cold chalk or old crud, not so stoked on ice or huge moguls.

Otherwise I’ll probably just bring the touring gear and get out for some walks.

Hells yea. While we may not have the bottomless conditions we’ve had years prior the ghee is skiing mighty fine. Just don’t bring those brand new boards Santa just delivered as there are still some sharks lurking and have an open mind. These bluebird days have been a treat and the snow sliding has been fun. Mary’s today was still soft and the northerly aspects have been surfy still. These subzero nights are preserving snow very well. Le Tits Now

The ghee has been skiing really great. Don’t expect powder. I did my part in tracking that out. Bring your carving or stable crud skis and you’ll be happy.

Merry Christmas mags. Kinda funny, both Mrs K and I received the Thomas T Select Peaks book from one another. Guess we'll be okay when one walks off

The past three days have been LeTits. Today we head to Green Canyon Hot Springs. Then tomorrow back to the ghee for some mildish-temp laps in the sun. Here are some pics from the past few days...

Awesome, thank you both. I'll throw the gear in the truck and try to make it happen.

I saw a IG update from BTA. Be careful out there, that pack looks delicate right now.

Couple questions, anyone see that the five or six 1hr parking spots between the Whitehouse and the new hote are roped off and say Reserved now? Please no.

Also anyone see if AV opened at 830 today like it's supposed to on a holiday week? The resort said 9am via text which doesn't sound right

Day off for me so I didn't get a shot at one of those.

Def a go to spot. Fuck 'em. Time for blatant poaching.
Bribe them kids with beer/weed. Works everytime.

Lifty told me yesterday that lifts are early all week but I didn't see today. Webcams looked really quiet before the opening bell.
Pretty unbusy Holiday so far. Dig it.

Well if we ever do get a slab on top, there's a meter of facets out there. Surprisingly supportable though.

    Awesome!

Yes, I was touring in a l/s t-shirt today @ 10,000—don't believe I've ever done that on December 26th before. Chilly down low for sure!

Few people I know are going bell to bell — props to you for packing in the extra half-hour!

12yo me would have been out there, in the rain. I feel in many ways I was WAY more committed then!!

Love me some corduroy laps & miss 'em!

Nice work man. Yeah I'm not skiing the village bell to bell, more like one hour after the opening. But it is choice for a little while

Anyone interested in trading jackson hole ski tix for grand targhee ski. I'll be coming out for a work/ski trip soon and I would love to get to that side of the hill.

First day out after a forced 3 week layoff. Icy/rocky skiing never felt so good.

Yo Joe, good to see you're returning soon. Which do you have and which do you need?

I have nada but 25% off vouchers. Almost useless.

Bringing the missus and the pupper again? Pencil in a sesh at the waxroom if ya gots some time.

    Holla.

I know it is frowned upon to post anything other than stoke, but here is a quick climatology update-

We are going to set a new record for the least amount of snow ever recorded on Jan 1st at the Grand Targhee Snotel site. Data goes back to 2007

We are also going to tie or break the record for the least snow ever recorded on Jan 1st at the Phillips Bench Snotel site above Wilson. Data goes back to 1981.

We are not alone. More than 90% of Snotel sites in the western US are significantly below average. Almost all snow recording stations in California, Oregon and Washington are more than 50% below average. All but a single Snotel site in British Columbia are below average. Barring a miracle this spring, we are in for a monumental and historic fire season.
