Obviously the right answer is 'whatever feels right', but out of interest I noticed that Moment's own sizing points me (5'11", 160) at 179 in both DW and WC. I got on some 2012 Bibby 184 a few days last year and they felt great but....a lot of ski so I'm wondering if that sense still translates to newer builds ie should I go 179? Unfort can't demo where I am.
Size charts always seem to size down from what I feel is appropriate. I'm 6'0 160-5 and I haven't skied a sub 180 ski in forever. My only consideration for a sub-180 would be a purely front side ski. I just got rid of some 183 pow skis because they skied too short.
YMMV. It definitely depends upon who you are as a skier. I'd have a conversation with the folks at Moment before ordering.
I think going sub-180 on a ski that will see soft snow at your weight/height is a bad move. The newer 184s are not super demanding at all and as people keep saying you can DD them easily if you want. I'm about the same size as you and can't imagine going shorter than the 184s. Honestly if the 184s didn't feel good then maybe the WC is just not the ski you want for this quiver spot?
im a little bigger than you at 6’0 185lbs, but i went 179 on my wildcat 108 based off the size chart and do regret not getting the 184. The 179 skis great. I don’t have any major issues but I would have been much happier on the 184.
I ended up going 184 on my wish 104 and wish 112. Very happy I did and wouldn’t change a thing on those. The cat skis a tad short too so don’t be afraid to size up. I grabbed the 190 118 wc and was worried it would be too much ski. I ended up daily driving it a few times last season.
I think you’ll be very happy on the 184.
I'm six feet zero inches and 160 pounds. I have a current quiver of 3 moments in 190, and one 194. Buy the length that makes you happy 😁.
Outlier here, 5’8” 210 and I think weight/strength is a bigger factor than height when deciding how long of a ski to pilot.
I personally believe, if possible, you should find a shop that does demos and try out some different lengths. Find the “just right” length that compliments how you like to ski.

Go to Blister Summit in Feb and demo all the Moment lengths and models to find your fav!
Weight/Height are a good starting point for sizing but you also have to consider skill/str like behu mentioned. The stronger/more experienced you are, the longer the ski you may enjoy.
Same boat here. Someone please convince me either to or not to get a pair of 190 Wildcats (118). I already have DW (112), Asym BGs (116), K2 Catamarans (120), OG Hellbents (122), Kye Numinous (122, biggest overlap here I think), OG Spurs (125), OG Protest (131). Actually typing this out makes me think I might have a problem....
^holy overlap, batman
Wildcats (Bibbys) are fun
Get them if you can afford to. Sell one of your other wider pairs if you need to make room.
They are so good. Most of those skis you listed are more powder specific. The big Wildcats are more versatile, more like super wide all mountain park skis, that are more directional with -5.5 mount and with a longer turn radius
Nah I hear you....that inch plus 25lbs is enough to maybe tip the balance though, plus while I'm pretty fast and rowdy in pretty much anything on a board, I came to skiing at nearly 50 so skill-wise that'll always be playing catchup.....which is fine as I still frkn love it.
Guess I was partly intrigued how Moment themselves set those sizings for specific skis when it's not like they're making a cover-all chart like Evo or somewhere.
Anyway as suggested I'll give them a call and get the good word direct.
More Commanders are on the way and being finished now on the factory floor.
These skis had a lot more demand than anticipated and we are working hard getting all our open orders out the door.
Expect a preorder option soon.
Skis will most likely be available to ship the 2nd week of December.
I'm 5'10 140 lbs and I would grab the 184 since that is the length my skis are. I think if you went to the 179 you could be happy and you could also be happy at 184. It all depends on how you like to ski. If you like to take it easy you could easily enjoy the 179's. I typically go to the 184 range because I like to push the mount point forwards +2/3 on skis and I'm in my 20s and stupid. On my mid 180 range skis, I do feel tails sometimes (not specifically talking about the WC/DW I just ski similar skis) and DO think the length hinders me on technical terrain sometimes when I'm tired. The WC/DW aren't super light they have heft so you don't have to worry about that.
If you're using these just for softsnow/abovetreeline/biggerlines go longer, if you ski in the trees a lot and you are concerned, you could ski 179.
179 = easier to ski/control (just less effort overall)
184 = more top end speed/stability
If it's not your only ski, and you own easier/shorter skis, I'd always shoot for the longer of the twoAfter 10-20 days on them you'll forget about the length. You also sacrifice floatation by going shorter. if for SOME REASON you cant get around to them, 184WC/DW are very sellable.
Speaking of sizing, they have the commander 102 in a 188cm recommended height at a 6’ 3”.
I can’t remember the length recommendation for last years 108 but I still have it in a 188 and it’s a great ski but eyeballing the new 102 as it’s definitely more firm snow oriented.
Im really curious to get on these to see how gigantic they actually feel
Anyone in here order a 102 in a 188?

Jeff118 in a 191cm mounted at rec has great float, obviously, is very maneuverable and skis chop like a freight train. And it feels like an ON3P, idk any other ski brand that this is applicable too.
WC 190, also 118 waist mounted at +2 I feel exhibits all those characteristics to a slightly lesser degree probably due to its lighter weight. But the WC is still really fun on cat tracks/groomers when getting back to the lift where the Jeff118 can sometimes feel too loose, if that makes sense.
Overall I think they stack up similarly and you can’t go wrong with either if you’re looking for an out west pow ski and you can also destroy the mountain on a WC/jeff

It occurred to me if I took my 186 Nanners, pulled the Casted Pivots off those, mounted them with Voyagers, grabbed a new pair of 193 Nanners and put the Pivots on em, sans cast, then put the Cast on my new Pivoted Meridians, my life would be complete.
I'm going to come down and visit the factory. Watching all of you guys ride at PT was a blast last year. Not just the quality of skiing, but the fun you were all having. I love niche, home grown skis. I feel almost ashamed that I have no Moment's in my quiver. I'll change that. I may need something with a tour layup, too.
FYI, Ski Burger is closed again. Just as I was about to pull the trigger [emoji22]
