I went with the new strive 16 on the GT since it has a lower height and shares the same heel as the STH 16.

Probably not a lot of beta on this, but assuming most ppl have been happy mounting on the rec line for the GT?

Mount them where you mount your DW. I ski all of my DW and WC variants at plus 2 of recommendation and do the same with my GT. I weigh 165 pounds and ski the 194 I'm not going to sink the tips. If you like your WC or DW on the line do the same on Ghost Train IMO.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but my new 194 GT's have the most impeccable finishing I've ever seen on any ski. Wonder if this is over-the-summer shop improvements paying off?

Super dialed, and the bases seem different then previous years. Not that they were bad before but now they seem extra juicy and saturated, and the structure is killer.

funny you mentioned that. They actually revert to the older base material on those skis as well as the meridians. The newer 7500 that’s on most others doesn’t partake to color and wild base graphics as well as the older 4001. Performance is near identical to the newer 7500. You don’t lose much.

been wondering the same. many folks recommend sticking to the line on the deathwish, because of how it could interact with the triple camber situation. when it comes to the ghost trains though, I figure that without those camber pockets on the ground (they "hover" due to the rocker lines) they may be less sensitive to shifts in mount point.

I typically like a more rearward mount. I went ahead and put some pivots -1cm from the line on my 186 GTs. we'll see how they ski.

While we are on the subject of mounts… Picked up a pair of used 190cm Deathwishes and I don’t think I’m going to be able to get them on the line. -1 or +1 preferred? Thinking -1 but am open to either

Both will be fine. Do you typically like your skis mounted forward or back?

Back would give more float in pow and favor a slightly more forward stance. Forward mount will pivot easier and favor a more upright or neutral stance. I go forward 2.

Most moments have a pretty big sweet spot. So the micro dissection of this decision is less necessary than with some other core TGR brands.

Deathwish at +1 rules. I’m always on something bigger on 6” plus days, so take that for what you will, but for a firm to slightly soft conditions do anything and dgaf sort of ski…

Yeah +1 is the cats PJs. I’m on the line on the DWT.

Good info. Thanks. Hoping they will slot in as a west coast daily driver but certainly will be a quiver ski. Anything 4”+ I’m typically on something bigger, so they definitely will fall in to the firm/somewhat soft range.

absolutely. The 4001 base is still really good stuff. Since it takes to colors and graphics so well I have a feeling they’ll continue to use it on special editions like these and the bananas etc.

    Stoked you noticed.

We have invested a lot in our grind room machines and process.

For the last 2 years we have been working with Reichmann to modify one of their robots to work in our production line.

Finishing a raw ski is a lot different than tuning a ski.

Clear 4001 base was used for the classic graphics because they have sublimated base.

The black 7000 series base we use on standard production skis with added carbon is a superior product in glide, dimensional stability, wax absorption and retention.

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

My favorite ski of all time 2008-2009 Moment Bibby in a 186. Tip and tail rocker flat underfoot. Just the best soft snow ski I have been on. Thanks to RTR this will be joining my quiver in December. It will be getting some STH 2 16. Can’t wait.

There’s a set of 09/10 190s on KSL right now that keep tempting me.

I got so excited when he posted those. That said they were not 186’s.
