Anecdote, as they share chassis/body: Coworker has been waiting 7 months of more to get the rear of her Q8 repaired after a bad accident. The repairs shop (3 hours away) gave her long parts delay timeline and a 3-4mo repair timeline.... She finally sent the car down last month and I guess the shop just decided to total the whole car after all that run around. She bought a cheap Jetta TDI in May to be her interem car (no rental coverage), so she has that for now and it will be her 13y/o's car in a few years.

Some of you need to read better. He said it was a used Atlas and new Telluride in his first post.

I saw it and it was wrong then also. The OP didn't ask about used or even CPO cars. This dude just wants to be a big fan working against us wet blankets.

Why don't you tell the class the last time you bought a new SUV and how much you paid and what the experience was like. Then you can tell me what my experience was like. Clearly I don't know.

The OP asked for anecdotes, I gave him mine and you're telling me it never happened because it doesn't fit your narrative. What in the actual fuck?

I'm in car shopping mode for the GF, looking at new CR-V, RAV4 and similar. Went to the first dealers last night, still not much on the lot and unfortunately it seems like the stuff we're looking at are strong sellers.

Anyone have a feel for how much negotiating dealers are doing these days? I've bought a few new cars at dealers over the years so have a decent understanding of the game in general.

I remember years ago getting reports from Consumer Reports? maybe?, that would show dealer invoice, holdbacks and any other sale promos that were current.
Quoting this again so you can read it. It says dealers and implies new throughout. Nothing used is mentioned. Not even CPO

Ticketchecker, screw the RAV4, how about upsizing to a Telluride?
TS can give you the name of the Telluride dealer and salesman and you can grab one for $6K under. You may even come out ahead.

FYI, often times when dealers show "X" amount vehicles available for sale, they've been playing these games where those cars haven't even shown up yet. They're posting up vehicles they have allocated but might still be in transit. I know this because when I visited MY Honda dealership in search of the new Civic, they showed they had about a dozen available. They had ONE on the lot and it was already spoken for.

Nor did you post prices. Go visit that lot, see how many are ACTUALLY there, if there are any "deals" to be had, and report back.

^That sounds like a lot of work. We already know they're dealing Tellurides.

Ticketchecker, can I interest you in a slightly used 2023 bus pass or a 1982 Huffy 10 speed ? Leftover funds can give you a hell of a ride in Laughlin Nevada

Dude. I get it. Regardless of how much evidence is produced, you're always going to find an excuse. "Well I see there are 25 CR-V's, but how many of them are in Azure Blue?!!!!" It's worse than the Georgia elections.

Not to pick on you too much, but do you REALLY consider $32K for a 4 year old ultra-common VW to be all that great of a deal? If anything, you kind of just proved our point about the lunacy of the current car market.

Yes. It was $2K under NADA value and had a warranty. I consider that a deal.
