Fun comp. Megane Betend had one of the more impressive saves I've seen on the tour. That was gnarly.

Bummed that Palm and Hitzig couldn't make it stick. Both of those runs would've been great if they'd have kept it together.

Thought Chabloz's run was great, but I'm suprised they didn't dock him more for his various control issues.

I also appreciated that there were good, high scoring runs on multiple parts of the face. There've been some years on this venue where it's just a parade of skiers taking the same line, but there was at least a bit of variety this year.

Betend's run I thought was the clear highlight of the comp. At least she ended up with a 3rd out of it.

Great to see Pollard pul out the win.

One big difference I noticed between this and the 4 star event from last week is the FWT skiers start hiking immediately after kicking a shoe, whereas in the 4* they tended to stand around and wait for a ski dude.

Different expectations? Different culture? Fitness issue?

I dunno.. but being used to the FWT guys hiking for their gear it did stand out to me that the 4* guys just waited with the expectation it would be hand delivered.. even if they were relatively close to it.

FWITW, that was the first 4* event I've watched.. so don't know if that's the norm or was venue / athlete specific...

I'm hoping that JDL goes all out for Verbier. After that backflip attempt in her first comp, I feel like she's been holding back since then.

Mostly I want to see a hometown skier who grew up skiing 1000' ice mounds take the tour.

So stoked for Andrew. He’s such a good skier and just an all around good guy.

Hitzig’s opening air was beautiful. Happy for Pollard. Rewarded for skiing to the conditions. Clean.

I liked Tester's run today. I wouldn't have had him in for the win but it was a nice run

Youtube is easiest, not the FWT website. https://www.youtube.com/@FISFreerideWorldTour

Great comp - bummed they couldn't get a second run. I love that Wildseeloder face.

Hitzig's chute transfer air was sooo sick. Brutal to see him go down on a throwaway dreamcrusher feature.

Chabloz's backie, holy shit, to the goddam moon and couldn't have been more perfectly stomped. Second comp where his run has been blown on a small meaningless feature. At least it was in the middle of the face and not the very bottom like Hitzig.

Super stoked to see Pollard get a win. Would have loved to see what he had in mind on the lower face before he got hung up in the goop on the windlip.

Probably the same backie everyone else threw and most crashed or backslapped. Getting hung up may have saved him.

On the top left is a gnar wall that Nathan Wallace (Cham freerider) named [I think] Wall of the Future. Maybe he meant Wall of the Future FWT comp?!? I think, unfortunately, that the Wall of the Future is in federal Wilderness.

Cool video has Megane's gopro 3 as well as Chabloz' bottom flip which I didn't know sent him through the willows

That is a rowdy best off. Intense what these athletes deliver.
The putain at 1:09 is fire. Chabloz crossing tips were super scary.

Just read a wsl event win brings 100.000$.
    A fwt event win 5000€.

Ok surfing is way more popular around the world. But there is some room.

125 million skiers and snowboarders vs 35 million surfers worldwide. However people who have never surfed in their life by surf related gear (t shirts and board shorts). Plus the pay day for skiers is the World Cup racing circuit. But even that isn’t as lucrative as being a pro surfer. Easier to sell the beach life style to the masses than the mountain life style. And lots of money that shoes spend is gobbled up by hotels and lift tickets.
