Went to bed thinking I'd get up there early. Then I thought of the avy routes needing cleared due to the past days wind and the cold temps. I'm staying home and predict a late opening of transporter and griz (10-10:30?). Lavelle might be open by noon, but I'll predict 1pm. Solid busy day with FWO and Gelande setup happening.

Wow, the wind event from the past 2 days certainly made itself known when turning today. Scoured in some areas, lovingly windbuffed in others, a few undisturbed stashes here and there, and the occasional chalkiness that reminds you more of a run down Marx/Lenin than at the bowl.

Our friend from Virginia loved every minute of it though, and the blue skies helped thaw the bones out.

Well that was a treat today, bluebird day, only a half full parking lot, great variable skiing (obviously I didn't ski where it was only marginal). Thankfully people believed it would be too cold, or whatever. For some reason, the women's program wasn't going (though I'm told they will be there next week) so that wasn't part of the equation.

It was zero on the bottom, and seven degrees up top, on my first lap, but then the sun came out, the air warmed up a bit, and though the air was still pretty cold, I kept warm, charging through powder. Great day at The Bowl!

So, the first post Gelande ski day, was a couple of tasty inches, bonded well, on an irregular, and toothy, carvable base. Classic variable conditions. THE Bowl!

Took an evening lap last night and it was snowing pretty good. Plus tele races were going so the bar was open which was convenient. Then a nice time skiing today, definitely seemed like more than 4" in a few spots

I haven't been up in a while, so I took the Transporter to Snow Park. 3" of new on a nice base, so I decided to farm some turns. I was able to make 3 before someone else laid down a line on the lookers left. Then 3 more before someone went lookers right. It was a fun way to pass time on a blue slope. Reminded me of running gates, with your turn and shape being dictated each time. The snow is in great shape up there.

MT, I was thinking of the farmer as I was doing this. So much respect for his beautiful work.

It was terrible, the corduroy was completely covered by new snow as the day went on. I recommend you stay home in droves, and stuff.

PS The road was very slippery, very prohibitory!!! Mow lawns, ride bikes and stuff!! (The very smartful things to do on a March Satberethday, for reals!!!!!)

Lol, Griz down again? That happened Wednesday for a long time. I'm glad it happened on Saturday while I was in bed with severe bottle flu.

Holy crap, while fluffies are swirling outside!

Griz went down on Wednesday because someone chopped through a powder line when knocking off ice. No idea how they didn't die. Pat spliced it back together. (Source: lifty housemate)
Lifts went down again today, so something is either up with Northwest Energy or Snowbowl where the power goes into the lift lines. Apparently they got it back up after I left and are staying open till 5. I got 1 run down griz while they got everyone off on backup power then went and did errands and an overdue trip to the gym (ugh).
Will try again tomorrow. Should be nice when the crust gets softened.

Power went down on all lifts around 9:45. Absolutely mint timing. Everything eventually got unloaded via diesel backup but not before Transporter contestants won the waiting game and lots of people hiked out from Lavelle.

Started back up slightly after 12:30 or thereabouts. Just an average day at the Bowl.

Private powder mountain was pretty darn fun after the lifts started spinning again.

I changed my spring travel plans, so have an extra Snowbowl adult lift ticket voucher. I paid $58, day ticket is $68....not sure what vouchers are going for in town this time of year. Selling for $40 seems like a good price. Pm for Venmo info.

    ETA: SOLD

If I wasn't stuck with a noon client meeting I'd be up there right now. Hope to get some this afternoon.
