Been in Mammoth this past week doing some acclimatization for the https://mammothtuff.com/ this weekend. I have been here many times but never brought the gravel bike. Wow, I might never come back without it. The eastern sierra is a great place. Endless miles to explore.

Ouch, that looks gnarly. I’m way more freaked out about taking a spill on my gravel bike than on my mountain bike. Dirt road rash at 20+ mph sounds brutal.

Reminds me of my early Whistler Bike Park days, circa 2003-2006. I had a plastic scrub brush that I would have to boil in rubbing alcohol and and then seal it in zip lock bag.
The zip lock would then live in my shower and I'd use it to scrub dirt and gravel out of my fresh bike park wounds, every other week to so.
Fawk my teeth are tightly clinched just typing this...

Boil it and then add ISO. (I missed a few words).
My technique was to achieve a rolling boil with water, remove it from the heat, and poor the iso overtop, and seal it in the bag for the inevitable next scrubbing.

I do a birthday ride every year with some friends, and put together a nice figure 8 that starts/ends at Craftsbury Common, VT. 20/30mile loops. We rode them yesterday, and in case anyone is looking for a nice fall ride this weekend--should be prime foliage!

Peacham on Saturday was fun. Currently running 1x 40 in the front and AdventX 11-48 in the back. Going to down size the front to 36 or 38 (and maybe ride more so I’m better prepared), other than that I’m a fan.

Looking to do a frame up build for light gravel/mostly road bike.
I have a 12s, Di2 Ultegra 2x, 50/34 - 11-34 full groupo
I have DT 180 hubs and some Carbon 22mm, id 29mm od, 28mm deep rims that I'll build this winter.
I'll most likely mount 30-32mm slick or semi/slick, and eventually build a wheel set for 38/40 gravel tire.
I dont really want to do much more "Gravel" that requires more than a 40cc tire.
My current road bike is an endurance geo, 7.0 kgs (15.5 lbs) Dura Ace Di2, 2x11, 50/34 - 11-30, rim brake with 28mm tires. I ride it on light/well maintained gravel and have no complaints, but know it could be a bit more comfy.

I want a carbon frame, but dont know what frame to buy? I have better pricing access to:

• Open UPPER (too boutique?)
  
• Revel Rover (only 1x)
  
• WhyCycles R+ V4 (Ti and only 1x)
  
• Cannondale Super Six Evo SE (geo maybe too Cyclocross race oriented?)
  
• Cannondale Topstone Carbon (too ugly)
  
• GT Grande Carbon (too ugly)
  
• Rocky Solo (Alloy)
  
• Rocky 2024 New Gravel Bike (? Maybe? but can't speak about it yet)
  
• Giant Revolt (meh)
  
• Giant TCX Advanced (geo maybe too Cyclocross race oriented?)

I dont mind paying retail for:

• Specialized Crux (but fawk Spec.)
  
• Orbea Terra (caught my eye)

No to:

• Canyon (bad experiences)

What else am I not thinking about, what should I consider? I like the look/aesthetics of a traditional frame that has the seat stays meet the seat post at the top tube, like the Spec. Crux and the OPEN UPPER. Look is kinda important to me, funky triangles and weird frame designs don't appeal to me, I want to ride a nice lolling bike. But looks can grow on me. I also like to build a light bike...
Top contender is the OPEN UPPER, or the Crux (but that will be 2x as much $)

This will be a winter project, so I'm not worried about current inventory, I'll purchase/put deposit down early January and get on a wait list for a new frame delivery.

I wouldn't. I figured I'd ask to make sure that's the reason why it wasn't on your list. :-) I had to replace the future shock on my '19 Diverge. It reminded me that I swore off specialized when I had an epic with a brain... That said, can a crux clear 40cc?

The Diverge is a nice bike and the shock works great but not serviceable. If you go that route you should treat the future shock as a consumable. I ended up going Ti. It's heavier but I think it's another.
