Not many I know care, and I'm sure most of you do not either...but gotta brag here! I holed out for the first time ever from distance! 120 yards out from the fairway for eagle. It would have felt marginally better had it come from the tee and been a hole-in-one, but I'm counting it as pretty close to a hole-in-one! 2 under after 3 holes...I wish I could have kept hitting them well as I dropped off SIGNIFICANTLY after that start to finish with an average round...I'll always have the memory of that hole out, and the beers that followed. (I wonder if there was a correlation to those post eagle beers and the drop off in performance? nah....)

Played a couple courses in OC this week. This one was an absolute gem...probably the sickest layout I've ever played. Built into the foothills in Yorba Linda

    Congrats, Puma!
    That’s really exciting!!

I almost had one 130 out but mine went in and popped out.
    Seriously what the hell…
I got a birdie out though.

Are other places feeling so busy to the point where its difficult to even make tee times, or just my resort town/ Denver's weekend shopping mall? Then there are the 5 hour rounds. Doesn't help I play at a vail resorts course that sells as many passes as they can and seems to do whatever to get as many golfers out there as possible but still, its bad. Even when I look at courses in Denver there seems to be a lack of available times.

As members of a resort course we are blessed to have some priority over guests and the "commissioner" of our group gets the first tee times in the morning. As a result a long round is 4 hours, if all can keep their balls on the courses we play in 3:35 - 3:45. There are no bets involved so that speeds our play as well.

Spoke w my buddies last week that belong to private clubs in Westchester and Nassau, NY and they say it's a complete shit show on daily basis. Weekdays that used to have minimal play are now "like Saturday afternoon."

At a little course I used to play at in Scotts Valley CA, the owners son moved into a cottage next to one of the par 3s. For a while, his dog would lay out in the grass outside his house, and retrieve balls that landed on the green. I made him spit out my ball, and out came 5 or 6 more he had in there. Eventually the guy had to put up a fence.

Buddy of mine had two small terriers that he walked daily on a local muni. Dogs would race each other to find balls and bring them back. Turned it into a side hustle cleaning the balls and selling by the dozen to car salesmen at dealerships. He sent me 4 dz ProV1's as a gift.

Carded a 40 for 9 last night with zero GIRs. 5 pars and 4 boges. My dog chipping paid off. Last night anyway.

Finally broke thru and hit an 88 last Sunday. A foursome with my wife and another couple kept the pace slow and likely contributed to me playing better. Was +11 on the first 9, lots of pars on the 2nd half.

Just got a System 3000 PW from eBay. $11.14 + $31 S&H. Yeah, I know but cherry System 3000 PWs don't grow on trees. Excellent communications from the seller and it looks like it was hardly used. The grip matches my set. Definite upgrade.Click image for larger version.

Retired the trusty R-11, got one of the new Cobra ltd something or other drivers. It’s like cheating.

    Pretty

2 GIR, back to back birds, with a double on the 9th for a 39. Won $40 for our net 29 in the two man best ball.

Smokey sunset rounds with the boys and nobody else around. Pretty much as good as it gets...every bit as good as a pow day for me these days...also doesn't hurt when we played 18 at a different course in the morning.

Nice! Do it again this afternoon.

Also, I feel bad for you guys dealing with jammed tee sheets all the time. Just looked at the tee sheet for the course Iowagriz and I are members at (not the one in the pics above) and...there are tons of open times before 10:30 today...then it's a little full...but then there are only three tee times booked after 2:30. A good day to bust out 18 in 2 hours in the afternoon. We had an 8:30 yesterday (Saturday) and played in 2:45. Not bad when the golf memberships are sold out and have a year++ waiting list.

If anyone is ever in Missoula and wants to play, hit me up.

    Agree, I'd host as well.

Wife picked up a cheap, used half set of clubs this spring. She didn't want to spend money as she wasn't convinced she'd enjoy the game. Got her out a few times and then recently with another couple. She started enjoying the outing but was still very inconsistent (lessons coming).

Recently she started using my driver and tagged a few good hits and of course got the excitement. Then we decided that the used clubs probably didn't fit her and she started using my full set. Hitting better and better each time. So it has been a successful summer for getting her into the game.

When I was a kid I played with a half set for years. Even in competition. Personally I think you learn to be a shot maker.
