Just got Starlink hooked up and it's fast as shit, 210/30 where I'm sitting. Running the two systems (old and new) in parallel for a llittle bit to see how Starlink does in storms and whatnot but I think I'm in love.

If like my previous Direct TV connection, it will take a substantial rain storm (maybe snow, no idea) to fuck up the connection.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I had Direct TV for 20 years, trust me I'm watching for that shit. In theory it's a completely different ballgame as it's a different tech, but we'll see. Hence the 2 systems both running here for now. Supposed to get some weather in here tomorrow i think.

Musk just turned on Starlink coverage in Ukraine.

Hopefully you don't mind losing some bandwidth.

I wish I could get reliable starlink coverage at home or at our cabin.

But terrain, trees and snow make it a no go.

Plus I'm never, ever willing giving a $ to Elon.

It does pain me to pay him. But my only choices are Elon or Comcast and I dislike Elon but I hate Comcast with a passion.

    Cutting the cable cord

Finally cut the cable cord this week. It was 220.00 a month for basically crap/HD was not very clear…..lots of channels we never watched. Got rid of those damn boxes/wires and shit….lol.

Jumped on the YouTubeTV offer…definitely cheaper/and my picture is a lot better/clearer….

Ditto. How much is starlink? I thought it was more.
Xfinity Comcast is $120. Fucking pisses me off when you see a Fios for $40 ad, and know it’s not in your street.

But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers

You should check - my crappy 70Mbps plan from Comcast had, at some point, been discontinued, and for the price of a new cable modem, I was able to upgrade to a 300/20Mbps plan and my bill went from $90 to $60/mo.

That’s not bad. Particularly for someone in the sticks.
Our summer cottage still has dsl. Weak.
But then again we can’t get dish tv due to neighbors trees.
I should check the angle on a starlink dish.

How would you rate the interface vs cable?

Is it more like netflix/amazonprime where you have a shiiteload of cumbersome menus or straightforward like an old standard cable guide, channel flipping?

I was looking at HuluLive as well. MIght have to do the 7-day trial and testdrive myself.

I’m happy with it so far/only 4 days in….I will eventually be saving like 100.00 a month. My picture (on all 3 TV’s) is soo much better than my supposedly HD cable boxes. The fact my cable bill kept going up over 200+ dollars and my picture sucked/I had to do something…

YouTubeTV has the live feature…so it has a guide that you scroll through/could be cumbersome I guess. But u can set a feature to list the channels in different ways. I chose “most watched”…and it has the channels I watch the most up at the top/ so not much scrolling to do yet.

I have not found a negative yet….albeit only 4 days in. My internet speed seems to be ok for now/but might need to be upgraded eventually…? (I have a conspiracy theory that since I cancelled my cable/they’ll screw with my internet speed….lol.)

I am doing the 14 day free trial. Then it’s 54.99 for 3 months and then 64.99 monthly rate.

Whats your internet speed? I run 50/50 no problem with everything and consider upping to 200/200 if I dropped cable and went YouTube/Hulu.

Similar situation...cable jumped to $250+ recently and I am with Ziply Fiber which bought FIOS a few years back...they still grandfather old customers to FIOS cable but if you want new connection they refer you to YouTube. So there is no chance to call and renegotiate a better deal and I don't want to go with Comcast Infinity service.

It’s the lowest internet package they offer at 50.95/month. It is listed as:
    -Up to 150Mbps download/8Mbps upload

That’s why I think I probably will end up having to upgrade to a better/faster internet package.

No. Because we're all still giving money to the fucking cable company unless we can get that sweet sweet FiOS. I hate the cable company. No fiber in my hood. No celebration on my part if I clog up my already erratic bandwidth with streaming.

Thanks for the info. Please update if you find any other interesting observations during your trial.

Both YouTubeTV and Hulu have gone up in price a lot lately and I have no doubt they will both be $200 a month in 5 yrs to match Cable - lol!

Ms. MT HAS to have tennis chanel. We had youtube and were happy unitl youtube dropped TC; even with thier constant price hikes. So no prob we'll just subscribe to TC seperately and fuck me if Comcast, our internet provider, who owns the market here, doesn't block internet access to TC becuase they carry it in thier internet offering. so now we have xfinity for internet tv and internet.

    As timely as ever...

Comcast sucks, but until we get municipal broadband, the choice is a Sophie's one, Comcast or CenturyLink. And fuck CL.
